Not long after the Full Nuggeters rolled out, the 10k Run/Walk field assembled, and then blasted off down the hill for a hard/fun lap of Motu Kehu before heading back into the Martha Mine and our unique finish line...

LOOK OUT FOR CLIFF There are a few very high and let's say, "unforgiving" cliffs along the coastal run course! We've put up a few signs, and layed out some tape to warn you about the most severe ones, but you'll need to take care and keep away from the edges at all times. Some of these sections of track can be slippery too, especially after rain, but good trail shoes, and focusing on the task at hand will help keep you safe until you get to the best bit - the Strava segment labelled "The Nugget Climb of Death". The track is very scenic, and wonderful for trail running - enjoy!

Orokawa Bay North End detour
TWEAK TO THE 23k, HALF NUGGET & FULL NUGGET RUN LEG Orokawa Bay - North End. Due to a couple of trees being down, and the condition of the track at the north end of Orokawa Bay, we've arrowed a slight detour along the beach. It's a pretty cool (100 m) section along the sand and across two creeks that will take you through to our marshal who'll point you in the direction of Homunga Bay... If you miss it, and go the old way, don't worry, you'll still get to the same place.

5k Fun Run Fun
Based around Waihi’s unique Pit Rim Walkway and the Union Hill heritage area, this course is ideal for those who want to be part of the Nugget and get a taste of off-road running. It's also perfect for kids and families. You'll enjoy great variety, great trails through bush and parkland and have a cool Nugget experience.

10km RUN / WALK Make sure you take the time to absorb some of Waihi's rich heritage and great scenery as you run or walk the cool trails around the historic township. The course includes the picturesque Pit Rim Walkway, passes through exotic forest, some beautiful native bush along a scenic riverside trail, and finishes in the festival atmosphere back at the pumphouse.

21km ADVENTURE RUN or WALK The Nugget long course run/walk has a well-deserved reputation as one of the best off-road runs around. It starts with a bang on beautiful Waihi Beach and combines amazing single-track with farmland and interesting heritage features as you head to the unique finish line on the edge of the gold mine in Waihi.

Run - Bike - Run > 33km One of our most popular events, you can enter the Half Nugget duathlon as an individual or grab a mate and tackle it as a team of two. It can easily be completed without a support crew and there's a bus available to get you to the start line if you need it.

With less than four weeks to race day it's time to ramp it up...

At the Nugget, we're blessed to have such an amazing team. Every year about 70 people offer their time for free to help us put on a great event. Some marshals have even been with us since the very beginning, way back in 2010, and every year they ask if they can be allocated the same spot. Look out for them on race day, and remember to say "thanks, you're awesome".
