Awesome news 👏

Great news for locals and visitors! The Windows Tunnel Walk is now open, with the Karangahake tunnel loop track hopefully opening next week. The Windows Walk starts in the Karangahake Gorge carpark and is about an hour round trip. Along the track you can see relics of the many processes that took place in extracting gold. From the tunnels where rock was extracted, to the roasting pits where the rock was broken down, and remnants of the huge stamper battery processing plant. Keep an eye on the DOC website for updates.
