Jana from Bloom Hair Studio and I have the most amazing client/stylist love story.
I first got my hair cut by Jana, almost a decade ago, when she worked at a salon in Queenstown. It was literally the best cut I’d ever had, and I drove over from Wanaka, just so I could see her again. It was love at first cut.
Suddenly one day she was gone. I called every salon asking if they knew of an American hair stylist called Jana, but one could help. Those were dark days 😭
Then, one day, when my hair was frayed and motherhood was wearing me out, I ducked into a Wanaka salon to see if I could sneak a trim, and who should be there, but my beloved Jana. I was elated, and walked out 40 mins later feeling fabulous and human again.
You think I’d have learned and taken Jana’s number, but the breastfeeding mind doesn’t work like that, and I lost track of her once again when she left that salon. She was meant for greater things.
It wasn’t until early last year when a bunch of my friends began talking about the most amazing salon called Bloom, that had bravely opened amongst all the COVID madness. The vibe was said to be awesome and the cuts said to be the best.
On the hunt for a hairdresser who could attempt to fill the boots of my now mythical Jana, I booked an appointment.
The rest is history and I will never loose her again.
Thanks for the mad cackles and for supporting me through all stages of neglected hair, theatre-focused hair, Farah Fawcett hair and everything in between. You really are the best my love 🙏❤️👌
