Cinterellas Workshop
Welcome to my creative space where I share creations of all sorts.
Our little princess turned 5 and requested a pop-pop ball gown that’s pops right out. Here’s the finished twirl. The pink and blue fabric was her choice from the store and inspiration for the dress, the rest was made with from upcycled materials. The petticoat was made from leftover fabric from my wedding dress I had tucked away. She helped draw the design and we made it so the petticoat can be worn with almost any dress to be a princess everyday. So fun much! She immediately went into her own little world and spun with her eyes shut. So cute 🥰

Sunflowers are coming along nicely. Finished the petals on this big one and I’m looking forward to doing the middle as it’s quite intriquite with beautiful colours changes 🤗
Exhibition now up in Otaki Library🤗 I have some work on display, along with what the kids have been up to in Term 3 Creative Afternoons at Cinterellas Workshop. Come down and show your support to the kids, and possibly buy one of their beautiful pieces ❤️
Update: due to timetable clashes with other activities we are moving this to Thursdays instead of Wednesdays 👍
The Term 1 art classes on portraiture were a great success and we are keen to do some more next term.
Cinterellas Worshop presents “Creative Afternoons” child led group art tutoring for Term 3.
This will be run on Wednesday afternoons 1-3pm in Otaki.
Spaces limited so that I can properly assist the individuals who come. This is designed for 9 years + as the tasks will be more advanced. Ideal for older homeschoolers wanting to connect with those their age and further their art skills and creativity.
I will teach the group how to design their own artwork and assist/advise them as they complete it. I will base teaching off their current interests and needs. And prepare relevant lessons for the following week with activities. As a group we will organise an art gallery for us to exhibit work in along with the wider Kapiti homeschool community.
Cost will be $50 per participant for the term working out to only $5 a week. Full payment will be due at the start of the term thanks.
Let me know if you’d like to book in 🤗
I normally draw people but this was my first dog in there, was kind of the same exact more hair 😂 was fun to do something different 🤗
On July the 10th you can view some of my work being exhibited in The Window gallery, Kapiti 🤗 there will be pieces for sale, as well as examples of portraits on display. Looking forward to this opportunity ❤️
Wow 🤗 I just want to say thank you for all the support I have received this week. I decided to offer 5 charcoal portraits to my local community at a low price to build up my portfolio, and the response has been overwhelming and I am so grateful. I am now fully booked into September with commission work!
If you would like to book your piece to be done before the end of the year (especially in time for Christmas 🎁) then contact me ASAP as spots are filling fast.
What a blessing to be able to work from home with my kids and do what I love 🥰 and to create special pieces of art for peoples homes ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you to Jodie Molloy for your encouragement and guidance in getting up and running 😘
Halfway through our portrait course this week, and we’re working on noses. Not many have explored noses in depth like this and I wonder if anyone nose what we’ll cover? 👀😅
Eye object lesson using a globe and fabric. You can see the back of the globe to the left, remember the curve of the eyeball that is visible follows this spherical shape. And the brow bone above the eye comes forward past the eye, but the skin under the eye is flatter.
Good use of our skin-playdough I‘d say 😅 not quite the face I meant when I gave the instructions… but hey, he’s a creative kid ❤️ and it looks good.
From photo to portrait of this little princess 💕
First Portraiture Class today and it went great ❤️ we covered face proportions - I find the geometry of it fascinating. Fully booked out (with a waiting list…) two classes a week, even had to buy more chairs 😅 feeling really positive about this course and the lessons I’ve prepared, was very happy with the results today 😍
I am offering a comprehensive portraiture course running weekly this term to homeschoolers and have two separate classes. We are almost fully booked with only a couple spots available in the Thursday class. If anyone has a group, or would like to enquire about joining an existing one please message me 😊 attached is the course outline.
Did this ages ago, but still enjoy the vibe it brings to our home. I really liked doing this because the canvas was so big it felt like painting a mural which I’ve always been interested in (maybe it’s the child in me wanting to draw all over the walls! 😅)

Have started taking commissions for graphite portraits and am heading into charcoal now, first one, Nala’s happy. Zion just wanted cuddles instead 🙄😅 I think I understand it better though now, I love the how the charcoal creates so much contrast and smoothness. Will post the next one (hopefully much better lol) real soon cause I’m so excited to do another ❤️ Workshop
Graphite portraits
Merry Christmas everyone ❤️ earlier this year my husbands granddad passed away and this was our first family Christmas without him so we decided to do something special for his 3 girls. I did them each a pencil portrait of their dad from 3 different stages of life. We printed extra copies as well so that each one could have all three on their walls. This was such a pleasure to draw someone so special for them at this time ❤️
Handmade Christmas stockings for all the kids this year ❤️🎄 lined with soft fluffy fabric, and edged with real sheepskin, these luxurious stockings will look so nice hanging along the fireplace. Though I dare not fill them quite yet as I imagine the contents dwindling before the official day with this cheeky fella 😅
This old plastic pot has had a cool makeover. I love the way the hot pink contrasts with the bright green leaves of the Peace Lily 💕🍃now it looks all fancy! You’d never know it was a basic plastic pot with a sandwich bag underneath 😅 If you have an ugly pot you’d like a custom cover for… just message me the measurements you need and we can discuss what fabric you’d like 👍
Just finished this portrait of a beautiful girl for her family ❤️ ready to be framed
Have a look at the new addition to my Sewn Creations Album. My Gran’s lamp revamped and fixed up ❤️ A special part of my home to my remember the time we had together 😍
Here is my Gran’s lamp that she used to sit under everyday. It’s how I remember her, when we would sit and chat together. The fabric was wearing away with holes from age so I recovered it with colours that matched her lounge and a style I thought she would like. The tassels gave it that special look to me, fortunately I was able to repair them. The wiring was a bit dodgy and needed repairing, but my friend was kind enough to sort that for me ❤️ I’m so happy with the result and look forward to many years sitting under it too!
The little ones are learning their numbers with these colourful fabric numbers and Miss 3 is learning them so fast. Being able to feel the shape and interact with them is helping her to recognise and name them real quick. They’ve already had so much use last couple weeks! 🤓❤️
Here’s my sketch of my daughter ready to be framed ❤️
I wear this snood with my matching gloves and I do not feel any wind on my ears or down my jacket. It completely seals it. I can put it with all my favourite jackets (with or without an existing hood) taking each one to that next level warm! Fully lined with cosy warm possum fur ❤️
Nana Patten’s dress was transformed into Nala’s pink princess party dress 💕 and decorated with vintage jewellery
I put these gloves on with my favourite jackets and they keep me super warm and stop any drafts going up my sleeves. I can button them over my hands for extra warmth or flip them out the way to look like fur cuffs. The dense fluffy possum fur lines the inside with a soft cotton blend shell. I wear these so much through Winter! ❤️
These couch cushions were upcycled from vintage blankets and other bedding, and I turned my daughters special newborn possum fur blanket I made for her into a cushion for a practical keepsake.
