🙋🏻♂️ Introducing... 🎟️
James Ladanyi; the Writer & Director of 'The Eleventh Trip of Lilibet W.' !
Following up his debut solo show 'Where The Water Lies' at Fringe 2023, James is back with his second original theatre work.
"This Fringe season of 'Lilibet' is all about firsts for me. The show is a completely new creative challenge, being both my first time writing a two-hander, and my first experience directing my own writing. Performing your own words is one thing... giving them over to other actors, allowing them to bring the text to life, feels very different. It's exciting. It's scary. It's Lilibet." ~ J.L

"The space is an important element in this show; it’s not meant to be invisible...we are in the world of the work, yes, but we are here, too, in this room, and that’s the point."

our artists!
Where The Water Lies is a collaborative work, blending theatre and visual art. The show features original artworks by five brilliant Wellington-based independent artists.
Introducing:
______________
1) Alice Brown
on Instagram
Alice Brown is a Pōneke based artist that often collaborates with storytellers who share her passions of human behaviour, creativity, and social change. It is her curiosity and empathy that helps her to engage an audience. Through seeking new experiences and knowledge, Alice is always inspired to create.
2) Sarah Jane Jensen:
on Instagram
Sarah-Jane is an environmental scientist who is currently helping to manage the Wairarapa Moana Wetlands Project. Typically working with acrylics and more recently digital, she depicts Wellington and wildlife. She is currently creating larger scale tapestries of lesser loved and ecologically unique native species. Painted in moody organic colours and on naturally died fabrics. Her most recent piece is of a tuna/eel migration, inspired by the once thriving population of lake Ōnoke.
3) Alex Smale:
on Instagram
I shoot 35mm film photography on old cameras from the 90's. I've also got a few older cameras that could tell some stories. I love the delayed gratification of film photography. In the modern world we have everything you could possibly need or want at our instant disposal. With film photography, there's a process. You have to be patient. A lot of the time what you end up shooting is not what you had in mind. But sometimes you strike gold. I live in Newtown, having moved to Wellington from Portsmouth, UK in 2016. You can mostly find me eating pizza somewhere.
4) Kate Andersson
on Instagram
Kate is a visual artist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Kate has always had an interest in art, but fell out of practice as she grew up. During the 2020 lockdown, Kate picked up her paintbrush again, and hasn't put it down since. Kate's medium of choice is Gouache paint, and she usually paints landscapes. Kate finds painting to be a relaxing, and creatively fulfilling activity. Watching a brand new world slowly come to life on the page, by her own has is a magical feeling.
5) Emma Belcher
[email protected]
Emma Belcher (she/her) is an artist living and working in Wellington. She studied Fine arts at Massey University between 2014 and 2016 with a focus on abstract painting, bold murals and art on unconventional canvases. Emma's passion for art intensified when she went on a two week art tour around New York City in 2016 where she was able to see some of the most highly regarded works in western culture. Since then she has travelled to Vancouver, Vienna, Florence, Paris and London (just to name a few) to view art old and new represented on the world stage and to get inspiration for her own work. Emma is available for collaborative works and individual commissions.
