Not seeing results from your marketing campaigns? If you’re looking for a sign that your digital marketing could use a makeover then read on...
One of the biggest mistakes brands make when it comes to their social media marketing is taking a “post and pray” approach – meaning they post content and pray it generates the engagement they want.
In actuality, brands should be posting content they know will resonate with their audience based on existing data.
f you’re seeing little to no traffic at all, this is also a bad sign. This is a clear sign that your marketing needs a fix.
The right marketing strategies – and/or provider – will help you take advantage of complex algorithms and drive more traffic to your business via the appropriate platforms.
f your audience is using Google to find brands like yours, but your website isn’t ranking high in the search results, you’re likely missing out on tons of potential customers.
Don’t leave your Google rankings up to chance – make sure you have an SEO strategy that’s actively working to drive your website to the top.
So, whether you’re running your own marketing or working with a company, step back and take a good look at whether your campaigns are yielding the results that you want.
If you’re not seeing the traffic, leads, and dollars rolling in, it’s likely time to take a different approach.

As a general rule of thumb, Yoast suggests taxonomy pages (those used for classifying content and data) should be 250 or more words, regular posts and pages should be 300 or more, cornerstone content pages should land north of 900 words, and product pages require a measly 200+ words.
As you can see, that’s a lot of variety.
Taxonomy and product pages tend to work fine with fewer words because they’re highly specific. And users don’t generally land on them directly from search results and instead dive into them from higher up the website.
A 2020 study by Ahrefs analyzed around 900 million webpages and found a strong positive correlation between word count and the average number of referring domains.

Weekly spotlight!
Alex Hershaft is an American animal rights activist and Holocaust survivor.
He is the co-founder and president of the Farm Animal Rights Movement, America's oldest organization devoted exclusively to promoting the rights of animals not to be raised for food.
Living legend. We thank you, Alex.
SEO tip of the day!
Large images slow down your web pages which creates a poor user experience.
Optimising images is the process of decreasing their file size, using a handy free tool TinyPNG.com, which in turn speeds up the load time of the page.
Our weekly spotlight!
Dame Jane Goodall is perhaps the world's most famous animal rights activist. She's considered the world's leading expert on chimpanzees, having spent 60 years in Tanzania studying social interactions among these primates.
She was one of the first to observe chimpanzees creating and using tools—a trait that, at that time, was thought to be distinctly human.
Legend. We thank you, Jane.
Latest from the Broadbelt Blog and our 3-Question series. Introducing Peter Da Vanzo - Peter has been in the field of SEO since the dark ages, way back when Alta Vista was a thing and Google wasn’t. Peter does contract and freelance work and can be contacted through Linkedin.
He joins us to share some of his SEO knowledge in another installment of our 3-Question SEO Series. He answers our three questions:
1. What is the most valuable SEO tool or technique you’d advise all website owners to adopt in 2023?
2. In your experience, what is a digital marketing or SEO basic that website owners tend to neglect time and time again?
3. If you could travel back in time to 2005 and give yourself one piece of SEO advice, what would it be?
As always, we want to thank Peter Da Vanzo for taking the time to give us his expert advice. Thank you, Peter!

Google Helps Searchers Find Cost Of Living Assistance
Google is rolling out a number of updates to help connect searchers with available programs and resources. In response to a spike in searches for “cost of living,” Google is updating search results with quick access to helpful resources.
Google will provide faster access to resources for the types of queries:
“How to get financial assistance.”
“Financial assistance for medical bills”
“What is financial assistance for disability.”
Social media tip of the day!
As social media marketing becomes more popular, it’s essential to understand your audience.
In 2023, you must develop content that appeals to your target audience. Consider what your target audience wants from you and how they expect to interact with you. If you don't understand your audience, it will be difficult for them to connect with you on social media.
DM us for help with your SEO and digital marketing.
It's been a big week for us all. We're running into the weekend with great excitement.
Weekly reflections from our collaborators. Our personal favorite "Always carry dog treats"
Google launches a visual guide with illustrations and definitions of the most common search results features.
Attribution: Includes identifiers such as the name of the site, the URL, and the favicon.
Text results: Commonly referred to as the “10 blue links.”
Rich results: These are text results with additional lines of information, such as review stars and recipe steps.
Video & image results: Photos and videos pulled from webpages indexed in search results.
Exploration features: Commonly referred to as “People Also Ask.”
Ready to make some one's week? Call some one you love and tell them why you love them.
No time like the present.
SEO tip of the day! Write for humans first and search engines second.
The Google algorithm gets smarter by the day and using constant human input, continues to better align with our thinking.
That being said, there is no clever loophole or magic formula to outwit a search engine, so don’t bother trying. Write for humans first and search engines second.
Ultimately, your priority should always be to provide your audience with what they are looking for, and that only comes through writing engaging and fundamentally naturalistic content.
Anyone can spot a keyword that’s been shoehorned in and stuffing is even more blatant, so fit them in where it makes sense and allow driving keywords to elevate your already informative and valuable content.
Check out our 3-Question SEO interview series where we interview experts in the field of Digital Marketing. This month we spoke with Eve Hodgson.
Eve Hodgson is currently the Senior SEO Manager at Amire Strategic Digital Marketing. She has 14 years of experience in digital marketing, including SEO, CRO, PPC and Digital Analytics. Check out the full interview in the link below.

We've decided to post some reflections from our collaborators and the people we work with. Asking them to write down a few points over a week or weekend that stuck out as things to remember.
Using your phone as a "journal" and writing down some reflections each day then revisiting these at the end of the week can be really helpful in moving yourself forward both professionally and personally.
Kicking things off with Sam, the founder of Broadbelt Digital, who we know follows this practice each week. Here are a few of his reflections from the weekend.
Sustainable Web Design doesn't have to be boring. It is an approach to designing web services that put people and the planet first. It delivers digital products and services that respect the principles of the Sustainable Web Manifesto: clean, efficient, open, honest, regenerative, and resilient.
People often think that designing for sustainability and accessibility means limiting your design choices and making things bland. Well, that’s simply not true.
Marketing tip of the day!
Incorporate SEO into your overall content strategy
While writing a blog as a thought leadership publication is great, it’s well worth including an SEO strategy alongside it. Find out what people are searching for and write about those topics.

5 Tips For Better Local SEO Reporting
Simplify Reports
Simplifying your SEO reports is not just a tip that local SEO agencies should follow – but one that generally any agency should, too.
Segment Keywords By Location
Getting into some more of the local aspects of SEO, we’ll need to ensure that our reports are adequately optimized to only report on local keyword data.
Segment Traffic By Device
Equally crucial for tracking local SEO campaigns is filtering data by device.
Go Beyond Standard SEO Tools And Metrics
Going beyond the local pack, we can add several additional KPIs (key performance indicators) to our local SEO reports that are highly relevant to businesses.
Track Local SERP Results
Another massive difference in how Google approaches local searches is using tools like the Local Search Pack and Google Business Profile.
5 steps to more eco-friendly living
Turn it off
Energy conservation is one of the most important things you can do to reduce your carbon footprint.
Don’t waste food
Wasted food adds to the amount of CO2 being created in landfills.
Recycle everything
Could you improve your recycling-ability (now a word)?
Fix it, don’t throw it
Repairing or fixing something is more environmentally friendly than simply throwing it away.
Consider your transport
If you can make the journey by foot, bike or public transport, then do it.
