The time is now! Our next silent speed dating event is taking place tomorrow evening at Lemonade in Wellington. It’s a chance to try a new way of dating, step away from your phones and face real people, in the flesh. An evening of flirty, connected play, eye gazing and very little talking, all with the goal of forming real-life connections.
It might sound nerve-wracking but no matter how awkward you feel, there’s probably someone on the other side of the room feeling just as awkward. We’re all in it together really, no use hiding behind our phones forever, who’s joining us?

SACRED STANCE HAKA WORKSHOP
THIS SATURDAY 1-4PM @ LEMONADE.
This interactive workshop will cover traditional Maori practices including the warrior energy of haka (traditional power dance), the hongi (sharing the breath of life), story, the art of introduction, song, and more.
This workshop also covers several simple yet extremely powerful masculine/feminine practices that are profoundly honoring, healing, connecting and empowering. The impact from this is currently sending waves around the planet.
We will deal with light and shadow.
This workshop is suitable for all genders and anyone up for real growth.
Participants will leave with ancient yet practical tools to support them in the way they stand, speak, listen, connect and move powerfully through this life.
It’s all in the eyes… Eye contact is one of the most powerful ways to make a person feel recognized, understood and validated. The simple act of holding someone’s gaze — whether it’s a new crush, a prospective employer or an old friend — has the power to ignite or deepen a relationship.
“Putting direct eye contact behind that winning smile is your best bet to create attraction”, says one study conducted by Aberdeen University in Scotland. “Looking directly at someone creates a sense of connection, and dramatically enhances other behaviors like smiling, touching and listening”.
That’s why here at Silent Dating we love to bring out the eye-gazing games during our playful dating events.
Curious? Head to https://bit.ly/3Hv8Zmg to learn more and to secure a spot for our February edition.

How gooood was that?! 5 hours of non-stop reggae tunes to start your week off on a positive high. 🏵️ Big up to everyone who made it out, so good to jam & groove with ya'll on the dancefloor.
🙏🏾 A huge shout out to and DJ Orfeo (The Lion Maidens), for channelling the upbeat, ever living vibes of Jah Rastafari. And the Big Badaboom sound system that may've accidently recorded a minor earthquake. 🌏
So many new connections were made, new collaborations initiated, and new ideas inspired. When music brings people together in this way, our souls love it and our humanity thanks us for it. Let's keep connected whānau. ❤️
Hopefully see some of you on Thursday for our bi-weekly Artists Salon & Social. Otherwise make sure you've booked out Saturday Jan 29th for The Great Escape!!
It's here!! Finally, we now have KB Kombucha available on tap.🍺 Come in for a swift half or a pint to refresh on these hot days!
We're lucky to have partnered up with KB Kombucha. A local Wellington based brewery dedicated to the craft of fermenting in the traditional manner of using Ceramic Crocks - imparting a smooth and unequalled edge. Kombucha brewed in plastic, stainless steel and even glass don't compare! 🍹
Sending out a massive thanks and shout out to all our artist community for such a vibrant and beautiful gathering last night. 🙏
We're feeling energised and inspired by all of your contributions. In particular wanted to thank everyone who showcased art, Molly Mason for holding the fort and Sebastian Romero for providing the sound system.
It was such a good vibe and we can't wait for the next edition. 💛
"The soul understands that true art
is catalyzed in the wild, unpredictable rhythm of chaos.
We think we're supposed to know what we're doing;
on the contrary, as artists,
our offering to the world is our unique perspective on the unknown."
- Gabrielle Roth

It’s Time to Bring Back the Arts Salon!
While our modern society has experienced innumerable advances over the past few centuries, it has put into question whether our relationships and social connections have evolved for the better. The relatively new ability to hide behind screens and social media accounts and online discourse via digital public platforms about politics and social issues have created division between the best of friends and close family members. The convenience of texting and a plethora of social apps to communicate with makes in-person conversations between friends, family, and colleagues fewer and far between, something the pandemic hasn't helped.
As our world is still in disarray from the pandemic, we have to be mindful of the ways we gather. However, our world is also desperate for in-person conversations and emotional connections, creating a need to step outside of our typical hosting boxes. It's time to think beyond the cocktail party and bring back the salon experience that originated in the 17th century as a lively (and live) social gathering that evolved into a safe place to debate, collaborate, learn, and expand one's perspective. No Facebook login or iPhone required.

Introducing Peter Allen Artist: Originalkly from Vancouver Island, Canada, Peter has now moved to Mt Vic. Wellington bringing with him 25 years of experience as a graffiti artist.
Come check out his new exhibition "Masked Landscapes" now on display at Lemonade. Peter will also be available at this week's Artists Salon & Social gathering on Thursday.
From Peter: "I framed these paintings with old Rimu weatherboards that I skip-dived in Mt. Vic. This is the way of Skuzza and makes them part of the land. I’ve spent the last 25 years painting in the streets and seek a return to the land. I hope that these paintings give you that feeling and inspire you to reconnect with the land through creativity."
