Immutable Law #2
“The Kettlebell waits for us to move it!”
What’s the rush?
The Kettlebell is not going anywhere! We already know that the Kettlebell does not move by itself…..even the ‘wild’ ones are pretty unlikely to get up and make a run for it! (See Immutable Law #1)
It is up to us to get ready to move it!
For some of us this may mean tucking our shirt in, pulling our socks up and making sure our headphones are sorted & the playlist is ready to go…….but, there’s a bit more to it!
When it comes down to it, Immutable Law #2 means to prepare yourself to engage the Kettlebell. Do your warm up to activate your mind & body before heading into your first conditioning set. Ensure you have the available movement ability and control to utilise your breathing, movement and structure to perform the movements in your routine…..on that day! In the now!
Remember:

1. Quality movement is our #1 priority!
2. The number of sets & reps you do is always dependant on #1.
3. The load or weight of the Kettlebell is always dependant on #1.
Quality first 💯

Thanks to evolution we can all do, or have these attributes and/or qualities for the most part. If we are pursuing quality of life we may need to preserve & cultivate these evolutionary gifts whilst travelling around the Sun.

‘This law seems pretty obvious, and it is. The Kettlebell will not move by itself! But what does this really mean?
The Kettlebell relies on us, it needs us to impart it’s special powers upon our health, fitness, conditioning and physique!
I will let you in on a bit of a secret…….the Kettlebell does not want ‘you’ to know that it needs you!
There are hundreds of books, YouTube videos, Instagram, Facebook posts etc. extolling the wonders and profound effects of the Kettlebell! The Kettlebell is taking all the glory! We must ignore & filter these images and propaganda of Kettlebell superiority, and expose them for the glorified attention grabbing cannonballs with handles that they are! It is time to deliver the message loud and clear ‘The Kettlebell will not move by itself!
We are carriers of the ‘Three Treasures,’ breathing, movement & structure. It is the combination of these three powers imparted from ‘us’ onto the Kettlebell that make this inert piece of metal a force to be reckoned with.
It is through ‘us’ that the Kettlebell finds its ability to express strength, power, control, balance, stability, mobility, endurance…….but as soon as we put it down, it once again becomes a lifeless ball of steel, it’s life force released from its handle the very moment it leaves the grasp of its benevolent master!”

Sure, it’s a ‘struggle’ to get going, but that’s the nature of the first stage of the Flow Cycle.
If we persist with our practice the ‘Release’ stage will come. In effect, we become more comfortable with the challenge at hand.
Holding firm to this, & aligning our focus to the challenge in the ‘now’ is the path to ‘Flow!’
Don’t forget the last stage of the Flow Cycle, ‘Recover.’
Allowing and actively promoting adequate recovery cements the experience within our mind & body!

‘From the dawn of civilisation, ancient cultures combined sounds in ways that affected the human psyche.
As time progressed, primitive forms of music evolved into ever more structured & artistically pleasing arrangements.
Music became common in many types of activity:
Worship, education, entertainment, healing, & not least, athletic performance.
