Kia ora,
Welcome to the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand on Facebook. The Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand is a progressive political party founded on the Green Charter. We operate based on a set of Values to achieve positive political change for everyone and everything that calls Aotearoa home. We are active at both the central and local government levels as well as playing a role in suppo
People deserve to be supported in times of need - not punished by systems like benefit sanctions. We can have a system which will uplift and empower people that find themselves in need of support.

Sign our open letter to the Prime Minister to tell him we deserve better renters rights 💚🏠
The safety of our people has to be at the heart of our transport network. Raising speed limits jeopardises community safety.

Our tamariki deserve better.
We stood with Ngāpuhi today as they said kāhore to the removal of Te Tiriti from Oranga Tamariki. We’re calling on this Govt to end its regressive trampling of Te Tiriti, and keep tamariki Māori connected to their whakapapa ✊
Tax 👏 the 👏 rich 👏
The Government's tax cuts came into effect today. Swipe to see what you would get under a Green Budget 💚
We must answer to the calls of Palestinians in Aotearoa and reunite them with their families.
This week, Muhammad Dahlan’s petition was brought to Parliament seeking a special humanitarian visa pathway for Palestinians in Gaza who have family in Aotearoa.
The Government must act and grant the visas NOW.
“This apology must transcend into ensuring that no people are ever subjected to this at the hand of the state ever again.”
Green Party Co-Leader Chlöe Swarbrick addressing the House today following the final report from the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care being presented to the public today.
This report has found that up to 200,000 of our tamariki, rangatahi and tāngata whaikaha have faced historic abuse in our state and faith based institutions.
Against the advice of the building sector, Building and Construction Minister Chris Penk wants to roll back insulation standards. Insulation creates healthy, warm homes - which are a human right.
Renters know too well the impacts of poorly insulated homes. Our renter stories submissions close tomorrow at 5pm - have your say. Link in comments.
Over the past month, we have been asking tenants to send us their rental stories. We have received hundreds of responses from across the motu.
To add your voice, submit via the link in the comments by 5.00pm Thursday, 25 July. Let’s tell this Government what renting in Aotearoa is really like.

Connecting with members of the Ōtautahi community over kōrero & kai 💚
There are things you can do to tell this Govt that we reject this so-called “plan” and want real leadership.
Write to your local MPs, bring your communities together and submit your response to this disastrous plan. Link in the comments.
These are just a handful of quotes from the hundreds of submissions we have already received from renters across the motu.
If you have a rental story to share, submit through the link in the comments. Let’s show this Government what renting in Aotearoa is really like.

Today, the National Government announced their new housing growth targets. We need housing policies that focus on greater urban density, not continuing the status quo of urban sprawl.
We need to build our towns and cities with people and planet in mind 🏠💚
The Govt wants to open up new coal mines on conservation land, destroying our environment and threatening the existence of native species.
Have your say and tell this Govt that the people of Aotearoa value our precious Papatūānuku over short-term profits. Link to the petition in the comments 💚
Rental properties are homes, not just a source of income for landlords. They are a place to rest, share with loved ones and build a life in. Share your rental stories with us so we can fight for your right to affordable, healthy places to call home.
📬 See the link in the comments to submit your stories.
The Government is once again risking the health of our waterways and precious ecosystems, all in the name of profit. Have your say and create a submission before they close this Sunday, 30 June.

We will continue to fight for our marine environment so it can be enjoyed across future generations 💚
Conservation Minister Tama Potaka says saving our native species is too expensive. We say ALL our native species are taonga 🦭💚
We have a plan to build 35,000 new, warm and affordable public houses over 5 years. National’s budget has no plans to end our housing crisis.
Make it make sense 🤔
This government admits that their approach has some “limitations and quirks” when it comes to their emissions reduction plan.
The solutions exist. All that is lacking is the political will to put people and planet before short-term profit.
Sending this wahine toa all our aroha for her recovery 💚
Right now, the coalition government is rushing a Bill through Parliament proposing a blanket extension to marine farm consents, lasting for decades right out to 2050.
This will cover thousands of marine farms, and mean there's no opportunity to reconsider conditions and ensure environmental effects on our sea life are avoided, remedied, and mitigated, like we'd see during a proper consent process.
This is a real risk for our oceans.
The government is allowing the public only ten days to respond to this proposal.
Together, we can show them that we won't stand for further damage to our oceans. Use our handy guide to quickly and easily make an effective submission on the Bill while we still can: https://action.greens.org.nz/marine_farm_consents
