Haight ashbury; the end of an era.

After 25 years Haight ashbury has closed it’s doors for the last time.

Following 45 years in the industry and 40 years of running salons, it was a sad, difficult decision to not renew the lease but it was time to regroup, recover and refocus. I would like to thank the clients, staff, associates and companies, who made Haight ashbury one of Wellington's leading hair salons.

In the last five years Haight ashbury has endured interruptions with building destruction, re-strengthening after earthquakes, COVID-19, and then the impossible task of acquiring enough qualified stylists in a time where working from home has become the norm.

The nation-wide shortage of experienced talent has reached crisis point within our industry and it is with relief I note the government has finally given employers the incentive to train staff, I sincerely hope this will revitalise the hairdressing industry and see new talent coming through.

I intend to work on but without the pressures of running a large salon - I'm returning to my roots and what I love about the industry - hairstyling itself. I will be securing a new permanent location shortly so watch this space!
