Peachy Keen presents Middle Kids NZ Tour!!! 🤍🤍🤍

With the travel bubble now open from Australia, Middle Kids are pleased to announce their hotly anticipated New Zealand Tour, bringing their boldly titled second album Today We’re The Greatest, overseas for the very first time. ✈️

Their most personal and courageous effort to date, Today We’re The Greatest was released on 19 March 2021. Today We’re The Greatest is the Sydney-based rock trio’s follow up to their 2018 triple-j Award-winning, debut album Lost Friends.

Middle Kid’s first headline New Zealand Tour will take in Wellington’s San Fran and Auckland’s Tuning Fork this June!

Trigger Warning: Assault | Inappropriate behaviour | Potential sexual assault.

We were extremely saddened to hear of an individual (Male) who allegedly assaulted several other people at Peachy Keen.

We learned of this on Saturday night when the man was removed from the festival by our Security Staff and immediately arrested for assaulting out guards by Police onsite.

Police responded within minutes of our call to them, sending Acting Sergeant Victoria Press to the festival along with 2 Constables who helped our security staff detain the man.

Our first priority was removing this man from our site to ensure the safety of our event goers. Our next priority was to locate the people he has made advances on and provide them with support, and an opportunity to make a statement to Police or offer them the support of other services.

With 4,500 people in a dark and loud environment we are not 100% sure that we have identified everyone that was approached by this man. We would like to invite anyone who may have interacted with this man to contact us (anonymously if you prefer). Supporting anyone who felt in anyway uncomfortable at our event is very important to us and we want to help where we can.

We would like to commend the actions of our security team onsite, lead by our Head of Security Lise Maru. While approximately half of our security team identified as females, the 2 staff that noticed what was going on and acted were Males Api and Mahe. Despite being spat on, sworn at, kicked in the groin and assaulted themselves they remained calm; and detained the man without hurting him or others. In a situation such as this it would be easy for things to escalate. However they didn't and we are proud of our guards who did their jobs professionally under a very difficult circumstance.

We never thought something like this would happen at Peachy Keen. We built this festival because of a lack of comfort at other festivals we have attended around the world. This sort of behaviour is completely unacceptable and we will continue to work as hard as we can to build events where everyone feel safe, secure and comfortable at; and enjoy their time while in our care.

We loved partying with you. And also want to take this first moment post-event to apologize for having to cut Gin Wigmore’s and BENEE’s sets short. We had a hard curfew of 11PM and unfortunately ran overtime earlier in the day meaning we ran late at the end. This was our fault.

We will be back. We will learn from Peachy Keen 1. And we can’t wait to do Peachy Keen 2 with you all next year.

The Beths

The Beths hail from the vibrant and deeply collaborative music community of Auckland. Gin Wigmore

Starting out on her Dad's abandoned electric guitar with the intention of becoming the 'family rockstar,' Gin Wigmore started early writing her first song at the age of 14. She's gone on to produce four albums with three topping the NZ Charts 🔥 Gin has consistently maintained a gritty and undeniably badass aesthetic. She's seen massive success with powerful, punchy hits like Kill of the Night, Black Sheep and New Rush. Stellar*

Legendary kiwi band Stellar* return with their unique blend of rock and electronica to crank out 20 years of timeless classics 🔥 With eight NZ Music Awards they became Sony Music NZ's highest selling Kiwi band. They will be performing every radio hit from their 1999 debut album ‘Mix’ like 'Violent', 'Every Girl', and 'Part of Me' at Peachy Keen on April 3rd at the Basin Reserve in Wellington and we can't wait to see them. Paige

Winning the world over with her honest and heartfelt songs, Paige is a singer-songwriter from Auckland. In 2020 she released Always Growing, which included the songs ‘Bloom’ and ‘Waves’. Maya ft. Sweet Mix kids

This harmonic songstress has soul, ya'll! 😍 Maya Vice creates honest soul music with the essences of jazz, blues and hip hop. Bass lines that make you move and vocal layers that bring a groove 🎼 2021 sees Maya touring New Zealand performing her track "Get Serious" with Aotearoa's DJ/Producer duo Sweet Mix Kids and we can't wait to see them April 3rd at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.
