Momentous day at - our technician Ian (pictured here with his Mum on arecent trip to Samoa) celebrated his 27th work anniversary today and trainee Izzy received her dispensing qualification certificate .

What do our optometrists do when they're not at work? Right now, Annette is at the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry Annual meeting in Virginia in the USA. She's representing New Zealand because she's the deputy chair of the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board here. And after the meeting finishes on Tuesday, there may be some sight-seeing in Washington DC.

A belated but very warm welcome to optometrist Annette Morgan who joined our team full-time at the end of March, having worked with us on Wednesdays for a few years. Annette is a former mastermind, the deputy chair of the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board and a former president of the New Zealand Association of Optometrists. Along with a sharp mind, she's an empathetic listener and has a wealth of clinical skill. Annette works at Featherston Street Monday to Thursday and at Molesworth Street on Fridays.

Shooting and lunch at the Wellington Pistol Club makes for a fun Saturday.

Today we're acknowledging the death of Sir Barry Humphries, creator of glasses-wearing icon . Her diamanté-encrusted were as part of her as her lilac hair. The world is a less colourful place without her.
