It's rare to say there's more parking spots in Wellington than before, but now that the BNZ building is finished, there's pay and display parking in the lower half of Ballance Street between Featherston Street and Jervois Quay. Handy to and an actual branch of the BNZ. .

What do our optometrists do when they're not at work? Right now, Annette is at the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry Annual meeting in Virginia in the USA. She's representing New Zealand because she's the deputy chair of the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board here. And after the meeting finishes on Tuesday, there may be some sight-seeing in Washington DC.

A belated but very warm welcome to optometrist Annette Morgan who joined our team full-time at the end of March, having worked with us on Wednesdays for a few years. Annette is a former mastermind, the deputy chair of the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board and a former president of the New Zealand Association of Optometrists. Along with a sharp mind, she's an empathetic listener and has a wealth of clinical skill. Annette works at Featherston Street Monday to Thursday and at Molesworth Street on Fridays.

Today we're acknowledging the death of Sir Barry Humphries, creator of glasses-wearing icon . Her diamanté-encrusted were as part of her as her lilac hair. The world is a less colourful place without her.
