An Embergher bowlback mandolin made by Domenico Cerrone in Arpino (Frosinone), Italy. Circa 1944.
In 1935, at the age of 82 years old, Embergher decided to close his shop. Production of his esteemed instruments continued in his workshop. During this period, it’s believed that Domenico Cerrone worked in Arpino making guitars and the instruments of the mandolin family, after the finest Embergher specifications. On the 16th February of 1938 Embergher decided to officially appoint Domenico Cerrone as his successor.
This instrument is a fine example of Domenico Cerrone’s work. Exquisite!

An impromptu performance from a couple of lads performing at the Beyond Words concert. Djembe and Uygur tambour (longest neck I’ve ever seen).
Round the house ceili band. They will be playing in the Thistle Hall for the Irish set dancing weekend in April. We’ll keep you posted!
