Migrate New Zealand
What's happening on the immigration scene in New Zealand
Providing news and information on immigration matters affecting people living in the Greater Wellington region.
I am becoming increasingly concerned at the level of abuse and exploitation of newcomers to this country who have been swindled out of thousands of dollars in the hope of finding work here. Many hold work visas issued under the Accredited Employer Work Visa scheme but the jobs do not exist and many find themselves destitute. The NZ Government appears to be d**g little to address the situation.
The problems are highlighted in Auckland but they will be replicated throughout the entire country. I am a Licensed Immigration Adviser based In the Wellington region with over 40 years experience in the immigration industry. My license number is 200800102. I want to play my part in bringing this abuse to an end in this part of the country.
You are welcome to contact me here or on my email [email protected] or call me on 0272496800 if you want advice on how to resolve your situation. All advice tendered will be completely confidential and free of charge.
The current Skilled Migrant category (SMC) invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) up until 23.59pm on Tuesday 15 August 2023. Immediately thereafter EOI's will no longer be accepted and the category will close to new applications.
On 09 October a new Skilled Migrant Residence VIsa process will be introduced with individuals needing to score 6 points to apply for the category. Points can be scored for NZ occupational registration, qualifications or income. Another 1 point for each year of work in New Zealand in a skilled job, up to a maximum of 3 points can be claimed.
All principal applicants will require an appropriate offer of employment in New Zealand and overseas work experience is no longer awarded points.
The usual rules regarding English language, health and good character remain in force
