The club was formed in 1953 by New Zealand Greek immigrants as Apollon AFC and is commonly known around New Football as 'The Greeks'. The club changed its name to Christian Youth Football Club (CYFC) in 1958, and became Wellington Olympic AFC in 1983. Under the umbrella of the Greek Community of Wellington New Zealand, the local Greek Community continues to be the basis of the club's support and a

Our Story

The club was formed in 1953 by New Zealand Greek immigrants as Apollon AFC and is commonly known around New Football as 'The Greeks'.

Under the banner of the Greek Orthodox Church, the club was resurrected under the name Christian Youth Football Club (CYFC) in 1959, later changing it’s name to Wellington Olympic AFC in 1983.

As the football sporting club of the Greek Community of Wellington in New Zealand, it continues to be the basis of the club's support and a significant number of players are of Greek heritage, with the club now into its 4th generation. Many non-Greeks also remain loyal and passionate, with 2nd generation members and players still very much involved.

The Club's Premier side compete in the ISPS Handa Men's Central League and also the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup.

The reserve side compete in the Men's Capital Premier League in Wellington.

We are proudly known as “the Greeks”. We are a family club whose players and supporters are passionate with a love for both for the club and the game, from our Masters to our youngest junior, we strongly hold to the values of our culture, our heritage and our history.
