One of the things that stuck with me in Aussie was what an incredible depth of solid senior Black Belts GSW is blessed with.

When I started this s**t all those years ago I was teaching as a Blue Belt! Now on any given night you can have the input and assistance of any one of a dozen Black Belts.

I’m so blessed to have so many steadfast loyal students behind me. GSW truely is standing on the shoulders of giants. Thank you boys I appreciate each and every one of you.

Last nights Iron Maiden concert was a banger. My ears are fu**ed.

But 100% carried on the theme of the time away, which has turned out to be catching up with old friends and filling my cup to overflowing.

At spark I missed our Scotty and Reece and Mason, but ran into Fritz. As well as Marcel from Rolling Inc and Andrew Craven and James
+
But the big one was this guy. Eddie Woodford. Holy s**t, haven’t seen him irl for a very long time and it was utterly epic getting such a beautiful hug from my old friend. Old school Zen Do Kai from the time before BJJ, but he’s always been so supportive of me. Such a beautiful human.

It’s also bittersweet because I should be sharing it with the other OG Kiwis, Geoff and Shayne. A solid reminder to sort your s**t and take nothing for granted in life.

The exciting countdown continues for me one day closer to my kake day, one day closer to my good friends., ✈️🎂

Me and James are so happy that he didn’t die in the last 3 years. So we celebrated with a piece of tape on his belt.
Congrats James keep up the good work!

People converging this week - many of whom, have known each other for decades. Thinking about that - it is remarkable really. It is a special thing (for me at least). I'm really looking forward to the weekend - Gathering comp on Saturday and seminar with Rigan on the Sunday. The Sunday itself is an astounding collection of people - all coming together on the mat. No surprise if we see 50 Black Belts in the same room - what a ways we have come!
