Motor Doctors have three busy workshops in Wellington and we are looking for someone to join our team in NGAIO as a Car Groomer and Workshop Labourer.

You will need to be motivated, with the ability to work well with others. It’s a physical job requiring a lot of stamina, and ability to work in all weather conditions (Rain or sun, the cars still need cleaning!). Flexibility is important as in addition to grooming you will be required to offer general support in other areas of the business

The position requires a reliable person who can efficiently manage & plan their workflow and who can also work under pressure while maintaining the expected standards.

You responsibilities will include:
• Grooming and detailing customer vehicles
• Moving Vehicles around the yard
• Ensuring courtesy vehicles are fueled and clean for customer use
• General labouring duties to assist within the business which include but not limited to:
Some lifting, tidying and arranging, and general assistance in the workshop as required

• A clean restricted License is a minimum requirement

• Good communication skills and a keen eye for detail.

• Ability to accept and follow instruction carefully.

This is a full time entry level role. The position is based at our Ngaio workshop, but on occasion you may be required to assist at our Thorndon or Johnsonville workshops.

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

All our workshops will be closing on Saturdays until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. This will give our staff time to enjoy some of these long hot summer weekend days with friends and family!
We will remain open Monday - Friday.

These percentages are based on 91 Grade petrol at $2.48 per litre.

WOF’s due during the period from July to November had a temporary extension allowing vehicles to delay their WOF due to Covid Restrictions. This extension is now over, and if have an expired WOF you may not have a safe vehicle for our roads! At the end of November Waka Kotahi says there are still 494,664 affected vehicles yet to be inspected.

We will be sending out reminders to our customers who fall into this category over the next few days, so remember if this is you, contact us and make a booking asap! Check that your vehicle is safe before you head on your holidays!

We have a position open for a Qualified Automotive Mechanic to join our team at Motor Doctors in one of our 3 workshops located across the Wellington Region.

This position may suit you if you have the following skills:

Sound diagnostic skills
Experience in automotive servicing, diagnostics & mechanical repairs to work on a variety of makes and models
A clean full drivers license & NZ work permit
A minimum of 2 years working as a Qualified Technician
Accuracy and quality focused
Excellent communication skills
Self-motivated Team player
Ability to work unsupervised
Great attitude towards customers & work colleagues
This is not an entry level position, you MUST be experienced and able to work unsupervised.

Waka Kotahi NZTA recently confirmed that effective from 15 September 2021, temporary extensions are in place for WoFs/CoFs, vehicle licences and driver’s licences that expire during the period of 21 July 2021 to 30 November 2021.

Motor Doctors continue to encourage vehicle owners to get their vehicles inspected when the WoF is due, as we remain open during Alert Level 2, also this will avoid the inevitable delays of leaving it to the last minute.

It’s still the driver’s responsibility to keep their vehicle roadworthy and we urge everyone to regularly check their vehicle is safe, even if it is not due a WOF. We recommend before you set off, to give it a “TWIRL” – check your tyres, windscreen, wipers, mirrors, indicators, look for rust, and test your lights.

In light of the above, Motor Doctors will still be sending out WOF reminders to our customers who have WOF’s due during this period.
