Hoops In Schools Travels To Matakana Island!
π Our Hoops In Schools programme has travelled to some incredible places over the years, but none as scenic as Matakana Island! π
Earlier this month, we teamed up with Tall Blacks Ethan Rusbatch to deliver new hoops at Te Kura o Te Moutere O Matakana off the Tauranga coast. We had an absolute blast with the tamariki, shooting hoops and chatting about all things basketball π
We were also fortunate to utilise several new hoops at Mercury Baypark with other local schools, installed as part of our Hoops in Parks initiative π
β‘οΈ This wouldnβt have happened without some fantastic mahi from Tauranga City Basketball Association 2.0 and the amazing ongoing support from the New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT)

π Itβs time for our third instalment of our β2degrees Breaking Barriersβ series, which shines a light on some amazing wahine here in Aotearoa β who are smashing through whatever barriers they face in the basketball sector π₯ In this edition we chat with up-and-coming referee, 23-year-old Danielle Kooge from the North Shore. Danielle was recently in action at the Foot Locker U20 Nationals in Rangiora, which saw her officiate multiple games β including the menβs final π As a young, female official, it hasnβt always been easy for Danielle over the past decade; particularly when having to stand her ground against athletes and coaches who have not always shown her respect β for no other reason than her gender. π£ Danielle talks with BBNZ about how sheβs been able to overcome these challenges and succeed in this space, as she seeks to become of New Zealand's top basketball officials. π£ Thanks to 2degrees for helping make this video series happen! π #EmergingLeaders #GirlsGotGame #2degrees
