๐ Congrats to current Tall Blacks head coach, Pero Cameron who will coach the Ningbo Rockets in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
โก Pero heads to Zhejiang, China in early August where he will helm a team that competes in the Southern Division of Chinaโs first-tier professional men's basketball league โ the squad finishing with a 6-46 record last season, which Pero will be looking to improve on.
โItโs exciting to be part of the CBA league, thereโs been some great coaches that have coached there over the years so I look forward to this new challenge,โ says Cameron.
โThereโs definitely a lot of talent in this league, and a lot of NZ and Australian coaches have been going into the Asia region as the sport of basketball is really big there - so itโs a great opportunity.โ

๐ With the FIBA U17 Womenโs World Cup concluded, letโs look back at a standout individual performer in Bailey Flavell โ who put up one of the best age group World Cup campaigns in New Zealand history ๐
โก Across 7 games, Bailey averaged 18.9ppg, 4.6rpg, 3.3apg, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks, shooting 42% from the field and averaging 2.1 made triples at a 36% clip.
โก Her scoring average was good enough for 3rd overall at the U17 World Cup, while her blocks per game ranked 7th โ including 2nd overall amongst all guards. Baileyโs efficiency was 5th overall (1st amongst guards) while her assists ranked 3rd overall for guards - proving her as one of the top two-way athletes in the competition.
โก At a team level, Bailey led the U17 Womenโs National Team in points, blocks, steals, three pointers made and efficiency. Her best game of the tournament came in a win over Mexico, where she racked up 25pts, 6reb, 4stl and 3blk while hitting 5-10 shots from outside the arc.

๐จ๐จ Incredible - New Zealand are Day 3 Champions for both its men's & women's U23 3x3 teams tonight, at the FIBA U23 3x3 Nations League in Kuala Lumpur! ๐๐
โก The NZ U23 3x3 Women's team survived a tough 15-13 overtime battle with Singapore in the first Finals game, thanks to a pair of clutch layups from Anika Hyland ๐ช
โก Then the NZ U23 x3 Menโs Team bested Malaysia 21-19, with Josh Book hitting the unbelievable game-winner from beyond the arc ๐ฅ
Well done to both teams, you're making New Zealand proud! ๐
๐
Both New Zealand teams will enjoy a rest day tomorrow, before returning to action on Friday 26 July for Day 4.
๐ In their second game of the BLIA Cup / Fo Guang Cup in Taiwan, the New Zealand Men's Select Team have taken a loss against the Malaysia Selection Team 57-71.
New Zealand's height proved to be a factor, leading to eight blocks within the game! However scoring proved to be a challenge. A big second quarter for Malaysia caused headaches for the Kiwis as they were unable to recover the lead for the rest of the game.
โก Julius Halaifonua and Carter Hopoi both scored 17 points each for a combined total of 34. Both players also managed to grab seven rebounds each, and could hardly be statistically separated.
