The weather is still very unpredictable and we have been advised to stay at home, stay with fam and off the roads.

The water is potentially going to rise and may effect our town store at Laurie Hall but we will find out how that gets on in the morning.

Power outages have also meant that our fridges and freezers will be all off so we will access our position again tomorrow but at this stage we will be closed at Tikipunga location and will see how Laurie Hall is tomorrow but we don’t expect many people will be out and about singing in the the rain.

Rest up, and stay safe, but be vigilant and keep your wits about you in this weather, because things can change pretty quickly, the tide can turn with ease.
We’ve lived through many cyclone seasons living in far North Queensland and even though they happen annually there people can sometimes still get complacent, this is not a time for that, better to be prepared for any emergency and there not be one then be unprepared and become the emergency.

Please do take caution with flood water and waters that you are unable to see the bottom and please don’t play in or drink contaminated flood waters, they are unsafe, safety first, yours then others, keep clear of live wires and the movement of trees, fallen debris, potholes, loose footing, degraded soils and embankments, water on the roads especially in the dark and rain can be deceptive so please go slow, take care and be extra cautious if you have to be outdoors.

In the case of an emergency or evacuation head to Kensington Stadium if it is safe to do so or head to higher ground and shelter.

Stay safe e te iwi.
Kia Haumaru e te iwi.

E ngā mana, e ngā reo, tēnā koutou katoa. Today, on Waitangi Day, we at Palate Wholesome Collective pause to reflect and celebrate the coming together of two cultures and peoples under the Treaty of Waitangi. We acknowledge the significance of this treaty and its ongoing importance in creating a solid foundation for Aotearoa New Zealand.

We are closed at both our locations today, a business, we stand in humble gratitude for the rich cultural heritage of this land and the many diverse communities that call it home. We recognise that our shared history is complex, but are committed to learning from the past, promoting transparency and inclusivity, and working together towards a more united, equality considerate and honourable future, one our many tūpuna planned for and one our next generations will be grateful for, a taonga, a gift.

Let us come together today with open hearts and a spirit of compassion, to celebrate our shared history and to acknowledge the diverse cultures that now make up the many faces of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Palate Wholesome Collective has been creating, developing and trialling a comprehensive health, wellness and weight considerate(mass gain or loss) program that is gluten free, vegan, plant based, nutrient dense, cost and consumer considerate.

Our primary goal is to trial run, measure and future proof a program we’ve called ‘People Who Care’, because we know that you’re a person who cares about yourself, your health and your wellness, even if you don’t feel, think or look like it right now, we want you to know that we are people who care about you, your whānau and our community too.

Our secondary goal is to support the nutritional needs of our town, region and people, a complex and considerable task.
We have the right team, the right opportunities and feel that this is the right time to contribute responsibly the best way that we can, through whole food nutrition and a solid support network to help answer any questions, share in ideas and create sustainable outcomes for our participants and their fuller futures.

What does health mean to you?

"Health is having a body that moves without pain, breathes without distress & allows us to perform the activities of life with complete presence & focused energy. Then, we can love fully & enjoy our lives to the fullest.

~ Dr Michael Klaper,
Physician & Plant-Based Health Educator

I had the pleasure of sitting in on a talk, having a wholesome and informative conversation and meeting the ‘game changing’ Dr Michael Klaper in 2017 here in my very own hometown at the Whangārei Vegan Expo.

What does health really mean to you?
