Congratulations to Deanna, last months coffee card draw winner! We hope you enjoy a free coffee and bikkie for you and a friend on us. (We have already notified Deanna.) The bikkies seem to be flying out the door at the moment. It must have something to do with this colder weather!
Our new menu boards are up!!! A massive thank you to Brian Harris for doing the sign writing for us! We really do love them. 😊
(A lot of you would have already seen them.) We have made some improvements on some of our smoothie recipes and given them a bit of a makeover with new names. We have added some new drinks to the menu too... including;
😋Hot Horlicks -bringing back that malty drink from the 70's!
😋Banana Caramel Frappe -decadent and soo yummy!
😋Dawny Smoothie -a dairy free breakfast smoothie with 10 grams of protein to keep you going for longer!
😋Reset Smoothie -a dairy free green smoothie that tastes great too!
Check out these photos to have a look at the full drinks menu!
Please note: we have added a few small price increases to account for inflation, thank you for your understanding with this.
We will be CLOSED TOMORROW - Matariki!
Coming soon… our spruced up drinks menu! 🙌
Where has this month gone?! Our coffee card winner for LAST month is Liz E! Liz has already been in to claim her free hot drinks and bikkies and now we are just days away from our next draw!!
Like usual we have been busy behind the scenes and have exciting things happening here at Kafe which I will share with you soon! (Later tonight is the plan! :) )
Fireman’s breakfast sorted.
Come and join us for a barbecued breakfast on the waterfront for Kings Birthday, Monday 3rd of June, 8am - 1pm!
We have over ordered a heck of a lot of plain croissants for our Monday delivery from Wild Wheat and can't wait to serve them up to you. I got to plate these up today and then sample them and let me tell you, the croissants are perfection! 👌
We look forward to seeing you. 🌞
Thanks to my mother, Lynn, for tending to the hanging baskets at Kafe! 😊 Don’t you think they look lovely and brighten up the place? Thankfully they’re holding up pretty well in this stormy weather we’ve been having lately.
On another note, we have seemed to have acquired a pretty bike (the one in the photo) which ties in quite nicely with our decor, don’t you think? My mum has been in today and filled its basket with flowers. Thank you to the anonymous bike donor. 😄
We have gift cards in store now, just in time for Mother’s Day!! Ladies, tag away, should you need to drop some subtle/not-so-subtle hints!! 😄
Open ANZAC Day 7:30am - 1pm only.
We look forward to seeing you bright and early. We have the usual cabinet food available for you... 😋

Congratulations to Shirley J for winning our coffee card draw. Shirley is part of a walking group that has been doing the loop walk and stopping in at Kafe every week for a number of years now. I'm sure we'll see you soon Shirley.😊
Bring a friend and come on down to the river and kick back and relax to the sounds of Glen Crosse tomorrow from 12pm till 2. ☀️ We have the usual treats in the cabinet and can’t wait to see you before we close Sunday/Monday.
We have been watching 3 matuku moana (white faced heron) fledglings venture from their nest beside the cafe for the past few weeks. They started by walking along the branch from their nest to sit in the sun etc. On the weekend they were seen flapping about the large pohutakawa tree which holds a number of now empty heron nests. Today they were photographed venturing out on the wharf post and down to the muddy edge of the river at low tide. Sadly I made the discovery that one of the 3 herons had got caught up in a mangrove tree and didn't make it. So now we are down to two. I hope the last two are able to fly the nest successfully. 😊
Photo credit: This photo was taken outside of Kafe today by Howard Carter. Thank you for sharing your photos with us Howard, it was hard to choose just the one to share!
Special visitors today to see the baby herons and for birthday treats! 🥳
Move over date scones, fresh in the cabinet for a limited time we have…
HOT. CROSS. BUNS! 🐣
Gosh these are good, thanks to Wild Wheat Specialty Breads! These hot cross buns are suuuper special! Here’s what Wild Wheat have to say about their buns;
“Our famous and much-coveted hot cross buns are BACK! Called ‘the Rolls Royce of hot cross buns’ by and ‘Last Supper-worthy’ by the folks at , Wild Wheat’s buns are an Auckland institution.
Made from our traditional sourdough starter, our Hot Cross Buns are filled with heaps of dried fruit, the perfect amount of spice and finished with a sweet and sticky glaze. Our buns are moist, fluffy and fruity and hardly need any butter at all - but there’s needs and wants, are we right!?!”
If one’s not enough you can pre order a 6 pack or 2, we just need at least 2 days warning. And if you are still reading this post we have also bought in some Thoroughbread gluten and dairy free, paleo friendly hot cross buns as well, which even my boys like! 😋

For our January draw we had T.K. who is one of our long time regulars at Kafe! 🙌
Our February draw is.... Sue Cates! There'll be a coffee and bikkie for you and a friend on the house next time you're in Sue, congrats! 😊
Yes, we are open tomorrow for Waitangi Day! Please note reduced hours, 8am - 1pm.
Thanks to Steve Harper for allowing us to share his photo which Steve took back in December during that amazing bloom we experienced in Whangarei. I've never seen pohutukawa trees bloom quite like that before! There was so much of the bits from the flowers floating around that it would end up garnishing some of the coffees while we were taking them out to tables!
This stunning image is available to order in print from Steve Harper if anyone is interested.
We hope everyone has a fantastic Waitangi Day tomorrow.
Last chance for entries on the photo comp we are running (see earlier post). We have had some beautiful entries, it's going to be a difficult decision! Competition will be closed from 6pm tonight. 🙂
Yes, we will be open tomorrow!
(No surcharge)
☕️ 8am- 1pm ☕️
It looks like the sun will be shining, the tide will be on its way in and fresh croissants delivered, what more could you ask for? It’s the simple pleasures! 😋
Last months coffee card winner was George Herbert. We gave George a call just before Christmas to let him know he's won himself a couple of coffees and bikkies. We also spoke to George about choosing a charity to send our special donation to and he had no hesitation in saying his charity of choice would be.... the SPCA! 😍🐶 We have made our donation to the SPCA now so, thank you George for your thoughtful choice!! 😊
Good morning, our account has been hacked. Apologies guys, please don't click on any links that have been posted in the comments section of our last post or any other random links, in that case. Have a brilliant day. 👌
Competition time! (By the time I had finished writing this post it had somehow turned into a competition!!)
Check out this stunner of a photo sent in by Robbie Watts, one of our Kafe customers!
Hope you are all enjoying days like these and are making the most of this beautiful weather!
Send us your favorite holiday snap in the comments section below that you've taken during Dec 23 or Jan 24 and we'll choose our favorite to shout 2 iced drinks to help keep you cool in this heat! We will announce the winner on the 31st of January. 🙂
*Please only send us photos your are okay with us sharing on social media, thanks.
2024 🙌
Looking forward to opening our doors to you in a couple of days time! Here's to an awesome year and more good coffee!
Wow, what a year!
We have been both blessed and humbled by the overwhelming support and encouragement we have received during our first year in business! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you to those that have stopped in as first timers, to the loyal regulars, to the good-vibes-only boaties, to the sunshine chasers, to our on-call baby sitter (mum!), to those who have taken the time to write online reviews. From the team at Kafe, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! 🥳🥰
Friday marks our one amazing year of being in business, we would like to donate half of the days earnings to the charity of choice of this months coffee card winner (which will be drawn on Friday). So, take a moment to stop and smell the roses (or in this case, the vireyas) and pop in for a coffee and Christmas mince pie before we close shop midday on Sunday for a whole 9 days for a much needed break!
Stay safe these holidays.
Steve and Elle.
The count down has begun!
Please note we are closing early on Christmas Eve to deep clean the cafe as we will be closed for 9 days over the Christmas and New Year period.
Also, we have a special give away happening this week! Keep an eye out for a post here, to find out more information!

At this time of year the days just whizz by! It's been a busy month at Kafe, thanks for keeping us on our toes!
Congrats to Werner from Amsterdam for winning this months draw. Werner has been a regular at Kafe while his boat's been in the yard here for maintenance and was able to get his freebee before he set sail to his next destination, further south. We love meeting lots of travelers coming and going from the marina as well as hearing all the sailor's stories!
Happy first day of Summer 2023 🙌
Tell us where you think this beautiful image was taken and the first correct answer will score themselves a free coffee. 😋

What a cracker of a day today and so many people stopping in on their way past walking or cycling the loop! Absolutely buzzing here this morning!! The team did so well to smash out so many coffees and cold drinks, well done guys!! 🤩
Side note: have you seen one of our latest additions to the cafe recently? It’s the perfect little spot to catch some rays and keep an eye on the kids while they play on the monkey bars! 🐒
