REOPENING: THURSDAY 9th MARCH. 🥳💘

Over the moon to finally announce we’re opening after what has been close to a month of closure. It’s been a rather turbulent time for Quail and we surely couldn’t have done it without the constant patience & support from our community. Thank you.

Can’t wait to be doing what we love, for the people we love. We’re ready. See your familiar faces soon!!

Things are looking good for the Quail to fly soon again in the same garden! 💘

We are waiting to share reopening dates and details, but wanted to share the positive news we have received in regards to the building. What a relief! We thought there was no hope for a return to normal, but we are receiving wonderful news.

The last few weeks have shown who is in our team and who our friends are, none of it could’ve been done alone. Cyclone Gabrielle’s storm has been and is continuing to be an emotional rollercoaster, lasting longer than a couple days of simple wind & rain. We started thinking everything was lost but we gained hope from our communities in ways we could’ve never imagined, to get back on our feet regardless the outcome.

While waiting eagerly for vital reports and decisions, we witnessed the true support of the Whangārei hospitality industry, friends of the Quail, staff and everyone from the whole community. We have so many people to thank, and wish to personally thank every single person involved.

The gardens will take some time to recover, as the damage is significant, but the cafe will indeed be able to open for business again in the near future. The Quail team has had a tumultuous few weeks but we are preparing ourselves to be better and brighter than before.

No date as yet, however we are looking forward to sharing the opening date soon. We look forward to seeing everyone from the community soon!

💚Special mention to the HOSPO FOR HOSPO community that is coming together to look after one another, not only in this instance to ‘help the quail fly again’ but to look after & grow the hospitality industry in a city we love. We are indeed a family that’s pulling together through hardship to grow what we have.

Basically every single hospitality business in Whangarei has reached out & shown their love, support and alternative ideas in more ways than ever could’ve imagined possible. It’s been overwhelming, and has completely flipped the sudden negative news into something wonderful. 💚

UPDATE - Quail Cafe will now be CLOSED at-least for the remainder of the week. Until further notice.

There are unfortunately major slips & damage in the gardens, luckily just missing the cafe building. However, due to land stability issues that have to be assessed by engineers etc., we have been forced to close our doors temporarily until we know more and it is safe to reopen. I will keep everyone updated.

Hoping for the best outcome in this situation, staying positive the best I can. Thank you for your support & understanding.

We are closed WEDNESDAY 15th FEBRUARY & will reopen THURSDAY 16th.

Quarry Gardens are unfortunately closed for a significant amount of time, until further notice.

Due to the severe cyclone damage at the gardens & power outages, the Quail cafe will be closed Wednesday & aim to reopen this Thursday.

The coffee machine & kitchen will return to normal soon, but our awesome gardens may take some time to repair. We hope everyone has avoided serious damage and look forward to seeing everyone from Thursday onwards.

The Quail cafe team in the Whangārei Quarry Gardens are searching for a new hydro-ceramic-technician (dishwasher)!

This could be a great part time job for someone at high school, studying or someone who really likes to be around water! 😉 We are surrounded by sunlight, plants, and enthusiastic vibes!
