Difference between Machu Picchu Mountain and Huayna Picchu

The Huayna Picchu mountain is the one that appears behind the Inca City in the classic postcard photo of Machu Picchu.
It is known as the 'Young Mountain'. The walk along its trails is recognized as one of the most incredible short walks on the planet.
Its Inca trails are steep and narrow. They were built on the side of the mountain. They can be scary for people with a fear of heights.
If you suffer from vertigo or can't control your fear of heights, you'd better skip this mountain.

Machu Picchu mountain offers less steep, wider and less visually terrifying paths than Huayna Picchu.
As in Huayna Picchu, its stone paths were built by the Incas hundreds of years ago.
It is known as the 'Old Mountain'. On its slopes the Incas built the Inca City that today marvels the world.
It is not necessary to reach the top to enjoy the landscape. Halfway along the way you can take good photos of Machu Picchu.
There is no Inca temple or enclosure on the Machu Picchu mountain.

Watchman’s Hut.

Being in Machu Picchu during COVID-19 offered an extremely unique experience that very few people on earth will ever experience. No one was on the first bus up the mountain and when we got there it felt like we were Hiram Bingham, rediscovering Machu Picchu all over again. Having been here before it was insane seeing this place without thousands of people. It felt eerie, even David who had been to Machu Picchu well over 1,000 times had said he’d never seen anything like it. His jitters were that of a little kid, like his first day of school. I’ll never forget how David looked at me after we took this photo. “I have never seen this place so empty and I’m not sure this will ever happen again. This handsome devil here is our brother Marco Polo. His talents include great camera work, world record holder for most limes eaten, and getting spit on by alpacas. He handles all of our video work and man does he do a great job.
