Some of our lovely and talented ladies we collaborate with to make our hand-knitted designs and accessories. I always love to see their incredible hand-work, skills and tradition that we can honor by putting this work out into the world. ✨

There are about 15-20 women who are part of this cooperative, depending on what other responsibilities they have, who are able to pick up flexible hand-work they can do on their homes along with looking after their families and usually managing the home. I love how much this work can fit into their lives, still giving them flexibility to commit to their families. 💕 We have direct contact with them, and pay them directly. 💪🏼

This is one of our main missions of HJK, to bring this kind of work to these ladies. ✨

Our Mission: The Yarn: to use only 100% natural and biodegradable materials.

The companies we parter with also have the Responsible Wool and Alpaca Standards (this is an independent certification to verify animal welfare, land management, and social responsibility).

All dyes are OEKOTEX certified, ensuring that they are free from harmful substances.

We NEVER use any nylon, acrylic or polyester; in case you didn’t know these are petroleum derived and are essentially forms of plastic which contribute to micro-plastics in the ocean, and can take up to 200 years to decompose. 😳

We do everything we can to ensure a clean and harm-free supply chain. 💪🏼

We are starting developments for FALL ‘24, and filling up our production space with our network of workshops and hand-knitting groups here in Cusco!

Apart from everything you see on this page, HJK also specializes in SMALL BATCH (and sometimes large batch!) production of sweaters. When I worked in the states this was literally impossible to find, and I love providing this service to other independent designers who are doing beautiful work on their own terms 💪🏼
