On Friday, July 19, social media was shocked by news of a global Microsoft outage. Several companies were affected by this issue including the Airline and Airport Operations, PH Banks, and other establishments causing widespread disruptions and delays in their operations. Thousands of passengers globally were affected by this issue, including the Philippines.
In a news report published by Inquirer on July 19, the global IT outage was caused by Microsoft updates affecting the system of airlines including Cebu Pacific and Air Asia. Hence, the international carrier of the Philippines "Philippine Airline" remains unaffected as of 4 p.m. on Friday, July 19.
According to Cebu Pacific, its systems experienced downtime due to technical issues related to its technology provider, CrowdStrike. CrowdStrike stated the issue stemmed from a defect in a single content update for Microsoft Windows hosts, clarifying that the outage was not caused by a cyberattack.
Cebu Pacific has already canceled more than 20 flights as of Friday evening. Air Asia meanwhile also confirmed being affected, causing the booking and check-in process to continue manually.
In an interview of ABS CBN with Steve Dailisan, Air Asia's Spokesperson, "Actually at 11:40 last night [July 19], we were able to restore the system but at around 6:40 this morning [July 20] it went back offline again," said Dailisan.
"We are trying our best to make sure that we minimize the inconvenience that's why we are also asking for patience and understanding from our guests" he added.
Meanwhile, on July 20, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) reported ongoing flight cancellations and disruptions due to the global Microsoft outage. MIAA says they were yet to determine how many passengers have been affected by this issue.

Itโs not everyday that we are rewarded and so yesterday, July 16 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM is not just an ordinary Tuesday. Student in Non-Academic Greatness Awards was held in the Peter G. Nepomuceno Building (PGN) Auditorium.
Once again, the Angelites made us proud. Celebrating their greatness through trophies of not just experience and abilities but also comes with certificates, medals, and bouquets as well. Let us all applaud the awardees for their success outside the four corners of the classroom.
Together with this fulfilling event is the pleasure to witness the performance of the Holy Angel Street Dancers.
This celebration is a reminder that hard work truly pays off. Without question, we strive in both arenas โ academics and extracurricular activities!

๐๐๐๐: All student organizations of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management collaborated in the re-establishment of the herb and vegetable community garden today, July 12, 2024, at the STL Building.
Representatives from HMAP, LTSP, The Concierge, and CSC-SHTM all took part in planting, as this herb and vegetable garden aims to be an educational resource for the students to learn hands-on experiences on gardening, nutrition, and sustainable food production.
This collaboration encourages students, teachers, and staff to learn and connect to nature, even when inside the University. There are plans for this garden to not just be exclusive to SHTM and the STL Building but to have satellite gardens around the university for the HAU community to use and benefit from.

When youโre a kid, itโs normal to not know anything about everything. Itโs normal to not know why adults urge you to play with your cousins during family gatherings so they can talk by themselves and never find out what they were really talking about. Itโs normal to not know why you donโt seem to fit in with other teenagers around you even though you may share the same similarities one way or another. Things like this are normal and expected because when you are a kid or a teenager, itโs expected to not figure things out completely yet. Youโre a kid, we all are to be honest, so go wonder everything about anything.
This brings us to Peter, a pretty usual man with nothing to greatly note since heโs not really a celebrity or something close to that. However, there is something that Peter is quite proud of that he believes not a lot of people could relate to. Peter thinks he has lived a great life. No, thatโs quite
not it, he knows he lived a great life. Now you, dear reader, may wonder. How come heโs so sure heโs lived a great life?
When youโre a kid, itโs normal to wonder about the world, about yourself, about everything around you. When youโre an adult though, itโs normal to feed those wonders with answers and experiences. And that is what Peter did. He became the person he wanted to be by nurturing his past experiences and developing himself to make progress in his future. Of course, it was difficult but at the age of, eighty-eight, Peter wouldnโt have if any other way. He was happy. Utterly and blissfully happy.

๐๐๐๐: In celebration of Pride Month, the University Student Council organized an inclusivity walk yesterday, June 28, inside the campus which aimed to foster a sense of togetherness and acceptance among the community.
With the theme, โInclusivity: Walking Togetherโ, the walk was participated by various HAU employees, student organizations, councils, and publications. The walk saw a remarkable turnout of participants from a wide range of backgrounds and communities.
To symbolize the distinct identities and causes advocated by each group, HAU-USC distributed rainbow and colored ribbons. The walk commenced along the boulevard, where participants proudly showcased and waved their flags and ribbons during the event proper.
One of the objectives of the inclusivity walk was to create a safe space where everyone could feel accepted and respected for who they are. By organizing such events, the University Student Council aims to cultivate a culture of inclusivity that extends beyond Pride Month. The walk served as a reminder that diversity is a strength that should be celebrated year-round.
