• 2. RIVERA, AMOS (AKSYON)

☑️ Public Servant

☝🏼

Great leaders don't set out to be a leader... they set out to make a difference. It's never about the role - always about the goal.

"...never kung inisip a atiu ku keng arapan yu ngeni a tatagal Mayor, pero manwala ku pu kasi a e marok ing katungkulan, nung gamitan ya keng mayap" - Amos Rivera, during the filing of his Certificate of Candidacy, October 5, 2021

During his years being the OIC of LUPAHO, all he wanted was to bridge the gap between the landowners and occupants. Through his great listening and negotiating skills, he was able to close deals for more than 20,000 families who now have titles for the land they live in.

To help support parents in their struggles of raising their children alone became one of his goals as a public servant. These solo parents, comprising 15 million across the country, will now benefit from the ordinance he authored in 2014. These and more than 40 ordinances he authored are now making a difference in the lives of countless Angeleños.

TRACK RECORD, PROGRAMS, AND PLATFORM OF GOVERNANCE are some of the things Amos Rivera will take with him moving forward in his journey to become the next mayor of Angeles City – strongly driven with only one goal – "to make Angeles City the best city in the Philippines."

Vote buying is the number one reason why elected officials would tend to corrupt instead of working to meet the expectations of those who voted them.

Vote buying has neglected the people to have a better quality of living. Basis social services such as quality health care, housing projects, employment and livelihood opportunities and education for deserving students have been deprived to the people largely due to the effect of this kind of system.

Time and again.... church leaders, government agencies and other media platforms advocating the voters to not patronize has seen to be a futile exercise.

And yet, we must not lose hope. We must continue to fight this corrupt practice. We need competent, sincere, and morally upright officials to lead our government.

Bayung Angeles will not resort to VOTE BUYING.

On our way to economic recovery, it is imperative that rural livelihood is given significant importance. As an aspiring councilor, team Báyung Ángeles and I strive to give every Angeleño their right to establish their own businesses, and find jobs that will give them security in terms of livelihood. I believe this can be achieved through the following:

☝ Skills and training programs in partnership with TESDA and the Public Employment Office — cookery, pastry, cosmetology, dressmaking, etc

☝Partnership and memorandum of agreement with companies to create job-matching programs to strengthen labor force

☝ Intensify efforts to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME's) to help them sustain and grow their businesses

1929 March 29
This Day in Ángeles History

Good Friday. A huge fire consumed the entire public market, including private buildings and residences in the five streets surrounding it. The fire that raged since morning was finally put out at 3 PM. This was remembered as one of Ángeles' Good Friday tragedies.
