Slumber

My muscles are taut in tension
Every part stretched with intention
Lost to the abyss of the mind
I heave into the crook of my arms

There is slothfulness in my movement
Despite the desperation of the moment
With my body stiff and numb
Could I work in this state?

Excuses and reason push me to guilt
Every day pushed back leaves me on tilt
Self-anger because of self's actions
This energy is not worth to fuel

Recognize the stewing negativity in the mind's pot
Reaching awareness is the blind spot
It takes discipline and strength
To acknowledge and take action

Awake and arise! My body's been in slumber
I've used all my rest, now it's time to ponder
End this cycle of inflicted torture
By breaking away in these self-confines

I stretch; catharsis fills my veins
I gain control of the reins
After the hard reset, it all comes together
I'm renewed like a baptism of reason

It took me long but time is it's worth
Breaking these heavy chains are rough
All that matters now is the second chance
Be strong in your foundation
