Biiig basil leaves

We learned that sweet basil loves a lot water (but be sure the soil is well drained), sunshine and very fertile soil mix

Scary harry "higad" enjoying our sweet basil. Because this will soon be a moth or butterfly (?) we decided to transfer this voracious eater to other plants in the garden. These flying insects are needed in pollination

Compost net made of sturdy plastic green screens.

Just place wet and dry leaves inside the net. Regularly wet the pile of leaves with water if it gets dry. After 3-6 months you will your new loam soil with healthy microorganism

Compost net is durable. Washable. Easy to store.

This may become a beautiful moth or butterfly but we had to remove this and say goodbye. otherwise we wont have any basil leaves for our dishes

It's time to let these mother basil plants go. Their leaves are getting smaller. These plants are no longer productive

It's time to grow new mother plants to supply our needs ⛅️🌤☀️

Such a joy to take care of sweet basil. Ang bango bango, masarap pa

But we had problems initially. Lots of problems. The seedlings we bought from a nursery had a lot of pests that ate the rest of our basil and then fungi grew (not sure if came with the seedling or coz it was so rainy then)

So we have a separate area for our basil under rehab. Basil ward

Thru propagation, pruning and selecting quality potting medium and exposing these to lots of sunlight, with much prayer for wisdom, we now we healthy basil plants again.

Some are still unhealthy but by God's grace with our basic role to provide TLC, these will soon be healthy once again.

IT IS A MOVEMENT! RAISING UP JOSEPHS FOR THE END-TIME.
Did you miss the first run? Then you missed half of your life. No kidding!

Covid-19 made all of us realize that health is wealth. It is about time we seriously grow our own food and make food our medicine. And it is easy, practical and ultra-low cost. Healthy because it does away with deadly and expensive chemical farm inputs. Not to mention that by doing natural farming, we help heal our environment.
Now, don't miss this second run. Registration is open.

Because there are just so many potting mediums out there that claim to be the best, we've been testing 3 potting mediums to grow our basil seedlings.

Can you see the difference so far?

Propagating sweet basil....

We have learned and continue to learn gardening by doing. There is no other way.

We watch youtube videos, learn from fellow gardeners, ask the experienced and apply learnings. We make mistakes, adjust parameters

And tadah! ☝️☝️☝️ time to put these into seedling bags using very fertile potting medium (another learning.. wag na wag mag tipid sa quality potting medium / soil)

God is good. Thank you for Your wisdom how to propagate basil.

Abangan, we will be sharing more learnings coz it makes sense ... stay home and grow your own. Iwas covid.

Thank you to the 3 ladies from Cogeo who accepted some of the seedlings we are sharing for free. These are not quality seedlings but gopd enough to practice on. We've added quality compost from our garden and some fertile potting mix to these seedlings. And we also manually pollinated the tomato flowers so that these become fruit, by God's grace

God bless your journey.

Pls just send us a message so that we can guide you further. We would like to help you learn gardening where we can.

If we can, you can too

01/09/2020

We are giving away tomato seedlings fed today with fertile potting mix and compost. Pls note these are not quality seedlings - we had fun germinating a lot of seeds but were unable to give TLC to each of them (learning... plant just a few seeds for home needs). But these seedlings can be used to practice home gardening.

We will give free guidance on how to give TLC to the tomatoes to those who will be requesting for free seedlings

If you reside in Upper Antipolo, just send a PM so that you can come here to pick up your free seedling. First come first served.

After harvesting our salad greens from our garden, it is time to prepare for the next batch of veggies. Empty the pots and set aside the used soil for reconditioning.

Some advantages of using pots vs garden bed 1) uses less soil vs garden beds 2) easy to move around the pots esp when it is raining hard and easier to crop rotate 3) pots can be used for both small and big garden space 4) you can hang your pots on your wall and 5) pots are reusable Some of the disadvantage is that 1) different crops different pot sizes 2) you have to spend on the pots.

Some of the advantages of using garden beds 1) you don't have to buy pots. The pots can be costly. and 2) various crops of various sizes can be planted. Some of the disadvantages are 1) you will use more soil or there will be more idle soil 2) if it rains hard, you cannot move your veggies to a safer place and 3) you need more garden space to make your garden bed and 4) you'd need to make a cover to protect your veggies.

Well just sharing our experience. We'd like to know your experience too.
