"Why is reading important?"
โข According to Harmer (2007), reading is useful for language acquisition. Provided that students more or less understand what they read, the more they read, the better they get at it. Through reading, we easily get new information or ideas, whether it is in a book or on the internet. Reading helps us to have more focus and gain more knowledge. You can also communicate with others better, including with proper word choice, tone of voice, facial expression, etc. We can apply it in our daily lives; we can inform them about a certain topic to help them understand. Additionally, the learners will also benefit from it. The best example is that if you had an exam or quiz, you would probably get a high score. In conclusion, reading also affects our self-development. Self-development is important because it is a process of discovering oneself by realizing one's potential and capabilities. We can have positive energy and also motivate others with the books we read. The conflict will be resolved through better communication. Reading is a must.
