Companies have already shot themselves in the foot by relying on AI to execute tasks without supervision.

Toy maker Mattel has been using AI to sort through large datasets, but its output was filled with hallucinations (i.e., outright errors).

CNET is getting heat after amending over 70 stories that were published using AI.
And we all know about the infamous NY lawyer who trusted ChatGPT for bogus legal cases that never occurred.
Embarrassing.

Here are a few tricks of the trade to make sure AI doesn’t make a fool of you at work:

Cross verification: use reliable sources to cross-check info ChatGPT feeds you, especially before trusting it verbatim. And like an annoying amazing teacher, ask for citations.

Ask follow-ups: Ask questions to reveal any gaps in understanding.

Always review yourself: before you click publish or submit work to the boss, take the time to go over it yourself. No exceptions. Not even w/ emails.
