Tropical Modern Haven: A Fusion of Nature and Contemporary Elegance

Situated in the serene town of Sibalom, Pulseo Design Studio crafted a home that seamlessly blends with its natural surroundings while meeting the needs of its occupants.

The home features four bedrooms, including two spacious master suites with en suite bathrooms, and two additional rooms. The open-plan layout creates a clear distinction between the living and dining areas, fostering intimate social interactions, while the dining space flows effortlessly into the kitchen, ideal for family gatherings.

A standout feature is the indoor garden, positioned adjacent to the living area, extending upward through the second floor. This design element not only enhances the home's aesthetic appeal but also establishes a tropical atmosphere, breathing life into the core of the house. This garden serves as the heart of the home, a lush sanctuary that nurtures family connections.

Zen Abode: A Modern Sanctuary of Light and Space

Nestled within the serene town of Sibalom, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, Pulseo Design Studio has designed a home that harmoniously integrates with its natural surroundings.

The home features a central courtyard, serving as a breathing space for the house. This courtyard is enclosed by hallways, the dining area, and the kitchen, creating a seamless connection between the indoor spaces and their users. The courtyard is particularly special as it fosters a sense of openness and continuity throughout the home.

Natural materials, such as terracotta bricks, were used to evoke warmth and texture, enhancing the feeling of comfort and natural beauty. One of the design challenges we faced was achieving security without compromising the aesthetic integrity of the home. To address this, we incorporated pocketed walls that discreetly conceal steel louvers, allowing openings to be closed when desired by the client.

Through this approach, Pulseo Design Studio has crafted a home that flows effortlessly, offers security, and breathes in harmony with its natural surroundings.

SF DUPLEX

In a typical duplex layout, we usually see stairs facing the front door or a dining area facing the toilet door. Because of these typical layouts, end users tend to struggle in their daily routines, which leaves them a feeling of discomfort in the house. In this project, Pulseo Design Studio aimed to create a layout that provides comfort by incorporating open planning for practicality and proper placement of spaces without sacrificing the flow and privacy for its end users.

For the “E” residence, the interior redesign aims to address the current issues of the spaces being ill-conceived due to unforeseen structural elements. These structural elements, such as columns, have made certain areas inaccessible and awkwardly arranged. To remedy this, we have taken advantage of the existing columns by integrating divisions within the living and dining areas. These divisions not only conceal the columns but also create more intimate spaces conducive to conversation and interaction.

Pulseo Design Studio has focused on creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere by employing warm shades of colors. This color palette is carefully chosen to harmonize with the selected furniture, enhancing the overall aesthetic and functional appeal of the residence. The thoughtful combination of structural adjustments and design elements results in a more cohesive and enjoyable living environment.

Nestled within the coastal landscape of Antique, the HS Resort stands as a testament to the ethos of Pulseo Design Studio. Reflecting a deep appreciation for vernacular architecture, this tropical retreat seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, offering guests a harmonious blend of natural beauty and architectural excellence.

Positioned along the shoreline, the resort boasts captivating vistas of both the sunset-drenched horizon and the tranquil farmland beyond. Its elongated layout strategically maximizes these views while creating a sense of spaciousness and connection to the land.

The design unfolds as a carefully orchestrated arrangement of communal gathering spaces, intimate hideaways, and outdoor amenities, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the tropical setting. From open-air lounges to secluded nooks, every corner of the resort beckons exploration and relaxation.

In homage to the region's rich heritage, local materials are artfully incorporated throughout the design, infusing the space with a sense of warmth and tranquility. These materials, thoughtfully selected for their inherent qualities, harmonize with the natural topography, creating a seamless integration between built form and landscape.

At HS Resort, architecture becomes a vessel for experience, where every detail speaks to the studio's commitment to crafting spaces that inspire, delight, and resonate with the soul.

-
The ambient landscape of the countryside intervenes through the wooden features and stony patterns of the architectural materials.

With enthusiasm for the artistic expressions and natural impressions, costumized paintings were proposed to be hanged on stark, wide walls as selected greeneries accentuated the corners of the spaces.

With a deep appreciation for tropical architecture, Pulseo Design Studio embraced an open-plan design for a proposed one-story residence. The 132 square meter project will be built from foundation to finishes for a family of 2. The building was programmed to include a living space, dining area, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 toilet and baths, and a terrace than opens up to the rear side of the property as it connects to the laundry area.

Surrounded by a farm landscape, site-specific considerations were ascertained. Cross ventilation was applied to maximize the monsoons on all sides of the building. Whereas, the functionality of the spaces were arranged in a manner that prioritizes the dwellers' privacy.

Functional materials, specifically, the brise soleil responds seamlessly to the light, shade, and ventilation coming from the north. In addition, intrinsic forms and sleek textures were predominant across the interior and exterior spaces, leaving a laidback and warm impression to the end-users.

Café Ruins: Aldecro Warehouse Collective

Instilling the collective considerations, our design intent sought to evoke spatial synergy of juxtaposition by integrating imprints of vernacular architecture to the existing concrete form. An open-plan was expressed as the design strategy to grant an incessant flow of human movement and perspective. The dining area was equipped by unconventional furniture setting to allow a laidback ambience to the occupants. The serving counter was substantially positioned on the right side of the building in order to provide the attendants a full-view of the dining experience without obstructions. Outdoor seating arrangements were provided to create an extensive space for gatherings.

Café Ruins: Aldecro Warehouse Collective by Pulseo Design Studio

Pulseo Design Studio reinvents a dilapidated building nestled at the backend of Aldea Warehouse Compound.

Avenue for Artistry and Community
It has been ratified that the 17th edition of the longest-running artist-led biennale in Southeast Asia, VIVA ExCon (Visayas Islands Visual Arts Exhibition and Conference), will be held in Antique on November 2023. The festival’s curatorial and management team determined the venues to be in the towns of San Jose de Buenavista and Sibalom. One of the venues was the UMMMA Aldea Warehouse Compound, a place of historical significance and rustic character which sits at the junction of Sibalom. Entrusted to revitalize the site-specific spaces for the biennale, entitled,” Suba Sa Iraya” (Return to Headwaters or Counterflow), DOCE Design + Build began the inner-workings at Building 5.

Intersections of Perception
The project brief was to revitalize the timeworn edifice whilst preserving the entrenched nuances of the ruins as a café. The festival organizers envisioned a space that encourages communal connections between individuals, their artistic inclinations, and the built environment itself. Nevertheless, they aspire a space that enables convergence between art, culture, history and tradition of the locality and beyond.

Tangible Translations
Instilling the collective considerations, our design intent sought to evoke spatial synergy of juxtaposition by integrating imprints of vernacular architecture to the existing concrete form. An open-plan was expressed as the design strategy to grant an incessant flow of human movement and perspective. The dining area was equipped by unconventional furniture setting to allow a laidback ambience to the occupants. The serving counter was substantially positioned on the right side of the building in order to provide the attendants a full-view of the dining experience without obstructions. Outdoor seating arrangements were provided to create an extensive space for gatherings. Other than the renovated restroom, two other public toilets— one for male and one for female— were built at the rear of the building to accommodate a large number of costumers.

Sentient Spaces
Enriched by the endemic vegetation of its surrounding, the café ruins sit harmoniously within the regional landscape. The unyielding beauty of concrete remnants and tarnished corrugated sheets concur with the well-grounded strength of the resilient bamboo and reclaimed wood. Not to mention the theatric interplay of light and shadows brought by the perceptive orientation of the building. Paying homage to VIVA ExCon Antique’s theme, DOCE Design + Build architectural rendition of Aldecro Warehouse Collective is a reverberation of the relentless character of a river to connect communities beyond their philosophies and topographies. It emphasizes the notion that our source is deeply rooted and it binds both man and nature from the essential past towards the transcending future.

With the right designer, even the tiniest spaces can be transformed into a masterpiece. This project is a cafe with a 15sq.m of space, the challenge to the designer here is how to incorporate dining spaces inside a 15sq.m stall without compromising the comfortability of its end users.

This project showcases the alchemy of design and innovation, where every square foot becomes exquisite work of art, proving in the world of architecture, size is just a mere constraint to creativity.
