PNP SEIZES P8.2M SHABU IN ILOILO DRUG BUST, SENIOR CITIZEN HIGH-VALUE SUSPECT AND COHORT ARRESTED

The Philippine National Police (PNP) posted another significant breakthrough in its campaign against illegal drugs with the seizure of approximately P8.2 million worth of shabu in a drug bust operation in Barangay Buhang, Jaro, Iloilo City on March 27, 2023.

The joint operation was conducted by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU), Iloilo City Police Office Station 3 (ICPS3), PNP IG, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company Maneuver, Aklan Police Provincial Office, CIT/PIT, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA 6).

The successful operation led to the arrest of a 68-year-old female senior citizen, Estrelita Bueno, also known as "Madam Ester," and Noel Llagas alias "JR," a 27-year-old male resident of Brgy Ungka, Jaro, Iloilo City.

Bueno, a widow and a resident of Abbey Road Bagbag Sauyo, Novaliches, Quezon, is considered a big-time drug suspect.

Aside from the seized shabu with a standard drug price of Php 8,160,000.00, authorities also recovered buy-bust money, one (1) knot-tied transparent plastic bag containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu (buy-bust item), six (6) knot-tied transparent plastic bags containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu (recovered from Noel Llagas), Five (5) knot-tied transparent plastic bag containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu (recovered from Estrelita Bueno), one (1) unit white Samsung keypad owned by Noel Llagas, One Thousand Seven Hundred Twenty (Php 1,720.00) proceeds money (recovered from E. Bueno), one (1) unit black Nokia keypad owned by Estrelita Bueno, olive green Euro Motor Marvel 125 motorcycle with temporary plate number 0601-1204695, and other several non-drugs paraphernalia.

The suspects are now under the custody of Iloilo City Police Station 3 for proper disposition, and charges for violating RA 9165 or "The Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002" will be filed against them.

Police Regional Office 6 Regional Director, PBGen Leo M Francisco, lauded the operatives for their job well done and urged them to continue their efforts in capturing drug lords and eliminating them from society. "It was again a huge accomplishment for PRO6. Let us continue to strive in recording up these drug lords and eliminating them from society," said PBGen Francisco.

Meanwhile, PNP Chief General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr congratulated the personnel of PRO6 led by PBGen Leo Francisco for this commendable accomplishment which shows their dedication to maintain the region a safer place to live. He also reiterated the PNP's commitment to respect human rights in their campaign against illegal drugs. "We are duty-bound to ensure that human rights are protected and upheld, even as we pursue our mandate to rid our communities of illegal drugs and bring the perpetrators to justice," said General Azurin.
