Bobby III A. Rodriguez, former Editor-in-Chief of CICT Press and Torch Bearer 2024, has been named one of the top 25 National Finalists for the Outstanding Student of the Philippines, organized by TRAC Philippines Inc.
Bobby, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from STI West Negros University, has an impressive track record. He has received numerous awards, including being a Top 10 Jose Rizal Model Student of the Philippines, a Western Visayas Tech Awards Top 5 Finalist, and receiving special awards in Leadership and Community Impact. He was also honored with the Excellence in Information Technology Education award by the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators.
His leadership roles and involvement in projects like eDALAYON in DILG Negros Occidental and Project DIGIBAR in DILG Bacolod showcase his commitment to Progress through eGovernance, Digital Transformation, and Research. Additionally, Bobby completed the Management in Engineering: Strategy and Leadership course at MIT, further enhancing his skills.

The induction ceremony for the newly elected Department of Student Council (DSC) of the College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) took place at the STIWNU Teodoro Hall. The event marked the beginning of their term for the school year 2024-2025. Various student leaders from each college, including the new Supreme Student Government (SSG) president and vice president, took their oaths of service.
The ceremony was attended by the deans of the various colleges. The Executive Vice President of the university, Dr. Ryan Mark S. Molina, highlighted the importance of leadership in advancing the college's goals and encouraged the new leaders to uphold integrity, inclusiveness, and excellence.

Cherry Anne U. Espino, a dedicated 2nd-year BS in Information Technology student, was honored with the Silver Honoree Award for Outstanding Student. On June 21, 2023, the College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) held its 18th ICT EXPO at STIWNU's Teodoro Hall. The event, organized by the Programmers' Guild under the guidance of Ms. Mary Gift Dionson, showcased the best capstone and thesis projects of 4th-year students, highlighting their innovative solutions and technical prowess. Various awards were presented, including Best Capstone, Best Thesis, Best Presenter, Best Product Logo, Best Advertisement, and Best Poster, with experienced industry panelists judging the capstone and thesis projects.
Notable projects from the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science included "Fish Eye Freshness Classification Using MobileNetV1," which classified fish freshness based on eye characteristics; "Coffee Beans Variety Classification using MobileNetV1," which distinguished between different varieties of coffee beans; and "Butterfly Image Classification Using Vision Transformer," which classified various butterfly species.
From the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, projects included "AuXfarm: An Online Agro-Auction Platform for Food Security," enhancing food security by facilitating the auction of agricultural products; "eDALAYON: A Document Management and Monitoring System for the Department of the Interior and Local Government Negros Occidental," streamlining document management processes; "ERRANDS: An Online Scheduling System for the Department of the Interior and Local Government Negros Occidental," improving organizational productivity through scheduling; "Obrero: A Mobile Application for Undergraduate Job Seekers," connecting students with job opportunities; and "VETelgeuse: A System that Connects Pet Owners to Veterinary Clinics," facilitating better healthcare for pets.

On June 9, 2024, the historic city of Silay witnessed a grand celebration of beauty, culture, and talent as Khia Gambalan, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) student, was crowned Lin-ay sang Silay Miss Turismo 2024. The annual Lin-ay sang Silay pageant, a much-anticipated event, brought together 15 stunning and talented candidates, each vying for one of the three prestigious titles awarded during the evening.
The pageant, held at the heart of Silay City, was a vibrant display of Silaynon heritage and elegance. Khia Gambalan emerged victorious in a tightly contested competition, impressing the judges and audience alike with her grace, intelligence, and charisma. Her journey to the crown was marked by her eloquence during the Q&A segment, her poise during the evening gown competition, and her undeniable charm throughout the event.
Khiaโs crowning as Lin-ay sang Silay Miss Turismo 2024 is a testament to her dedication and hard work. As a BSIT student, she has demonstrated not only her academic prowess but also her ability to excel in extracurricular activities. Her title as Miss Turismo positions her as a cultural ambassador for Silay, a role that involves promoting the cityโs rich cultural heritage and tourism potential.
The Lin-ay sang Silay pageant is a cherished tradition in Silay City, celebrating the beauty, talent, and cultural pride of its young women. This yearโs event was particularly notable for the diversity and talent of its participants. In a powerful demonstration of community engagement and compassion, fourth-year students from STI West Negros University took the initiative to uplift the out-of-school youth and children of Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City, through a meticulously planned community outreach program.
The outreach endeavor, led by a collaborative effort between Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) students, aimed to address crucial needs while fostering holistic development among the community's young residents.
Divided into two impactful activities, the outreach program left an indelible mark on both the participants and organizers alike.
**Capacity Development Seminar: Crafting Resumes with MS Word**
The first segment of the outreach initiative focused on empowering the out-of-school youth with essential skills for their future endeavors. Led by three proficient student speakers, namely Bobby III Rodriguez, Vincent Aquiatan, and Christian Moncera, the Capacity Development Seminar centered on the art of crafting resumes using Microsoft Wordโa fundamental tool in today's competitive job market.
Through interactive sessions and hands-on demonstrations, participants were equipped with invaluable insights into resume writing techniques, formatting guidelines, and the effective utilization of digital platforms to enhance their professional profiles. The seminar not only imparted practical knowledge but also instilled confidence and motivation among the attendees, paving the way for their brighter futures.
**Feeding Activity and Fun Playtime**
Simultaneously, the vibrant energy of joy and laughter filled the air as the children of Barangay Vista Alegre indulged in a delightful feeding activity and fun playtime organized by the dedicated students. Spearheaded by the esteemed BSCS Program Head and OJT Coordinator, Ms. Mary Gift D. Dionson, the event provided a nurturing environment for children to engage in recreational activities, fostering social interaction and emotional well-being.
Supported by a dynamic team including PSG President Ms. Cherry Anne Espino, CICT Faculty member Ms. Dawn Angelika Arsenal, and diligent 4th Year Class Mayors, the feeding activity transcended mere sustenance, becoming a symbol of community solidarity and care.

The success of the outreach program wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of key stakeholders, including Barangay Captain Jose Ma. Leandro Norberto L. de Leon, whose endorsement and cooperation fortified the initiative's impact and reach.
