MARRIAGE IS PERFECTING

Though marriage definitely isn't perfect, it is intended to make you more like Christ, who is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

And though there are some problems with the image below, we do find that, overall, it is a good description of what marriage is and how it perfects us to be like Christ. Genesis 2:24 says this,

"This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and they become one flesh."

MARRIAGE IS MATURITY

Implicit in Genesis 2 is that marriage both is FOR the mature and continues to MAKE you mature as you wrestle through it.

MARRIAGE IS TRANSITION

Genesis 2 explicitly states that to marry you must leave behind the life you knew, and enter a new life you do not yet know. A transition from being taken care of to taking care of one another.

MARRIAGE IS A COMPLETE FAMILY

Genesis 2 shows that marriage is a father and a mother, who are united with at least one purpose being to bear children and create...

MARRIAGE IS A NEW FAMILY

Genesis 2 gives us a picture that though we have a family in our past, marriage calls us to focus on and create a new family for our future. We detach from our parents and attach to our spouse.

MARRIAGE IS COMPLEMENTARY

Implicit in Genesis 2 is that marriage requires a husband and a wife being a complement to each other, to be strong where the other is weak, to lift up where the other has fallen, to build up what the other might lack.

MARRIAGE IS A PROCESS
..of learning, friendship, and trust. Genesis 2 doesn't say they are immediately one flesh (though it could be read this way), but rather that one flesh is BECOMING; it is a process.

MARRIAGE IS DEEP INTIMACY

Not the kind seen in movies, but rather the real, raw, and relentless kind. Being one flesh means both see everything. Literally EVERYTHING. The good, the bad; the beautiful, the ugly; the broken, the whole. Who you are becomes who they are, and who they are becomes who you are.

Marriage is perfecting, because marriage makes us more like the Holy Trinity, whom Jesus perfectly represented on earth.

What more could we ask for?

CHILDREN ARE A HERITAGE FROM THE LORD.

Don’t feel sorry for or fear for your kids because the world they are going to grow up in is not what it used to be.

God created them and called them for the exact moment in time that they’re in. Their life wasn’t a coincidence or an accident.

Raise them up to know the power they walk in as children of God.

Train them up in the authority of His Word.

Teach them to walk in faith knowing that God is in control.

Empower them to know they can change the world.

Don’t teach them to be fearful and disheartened by the state of the world but hopeful that they can do something about it.

Every person in all of history has been placed in the time that they were in because of God’s sovereign plan.

He knew Daniel could handle the lions den.
He knew David could handle Goliath.
He knew Esther could handle Haman.
He knew Peter could handle persecution.
He knows that your child can handle whatever challenge they face in their life. He created them specifically for it!

Don’t be scared for your children, but be honored that God chose YOU to parent the generation that is facing the biggest challenges of our lifetime.
Rise up to the challenge.
