A beautiful reflection before we sleep.
Psst!
Ang paninindigan mo sa kabutihan ay pagwaksi mo na rin sa katiwalian;
Ang paninindigan mo sa tama, ay paninindigan mo na rin sa lumikha.
Manindigan kay Kristo! Sa totoo lamang tayo!

Every year Filipinos mark September 1st as the beginning of the countdown to Christmas. This countdown, which spans from September to December, otherwise known as the "Ber monthsโ, is one of the most important traditions that makes Filipinos unique.
As we take part of the countdown for Christmas, let us also remind ourselves of the traditional dedication that of the Church has in store for the last 4 months of the year.
โข SEPTEMBERโDEDICATED TO THE OUR LADY OF SORROWS
The month of September is dedicated to the Seven Sorrows of Mary. Devotion to the sorrows of the Virgin Mary dates from the twelfth century, when it made its appearance in monastic circles under the influence of St. Anselm and St. Bernard. The Cistercians and then the Servites undertook to propagate it. It became widespread in the fourteenth and especially the fifteenth centuries, particularly in the Rhineland and Flanders, where Confraternities of the Sorrowful Mother sprang up. It was in this context that the first liturgical formularies in her honor were composed. A provincial council of Mainz in 1423 made use of these in establishing a "Feast of the Sorrows of Mary" in reparation for Hussite profanations of her images.
โข OCTOBERโDEDICATED TO THE MOST HOLY ROSARY.
The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. According to an account by fifteenth-century Dominican, Alan de la Roch, Mary appeared to St. Dominic in 1206 after he had been praying and doing severe penances because of his lack of success in combating the Albigensian heresy. Mary praised him for his valiant fight against the heretics and then gave him the Rosary as a mighty weapon, explained its uses and efficacy, and told him to preach it to others.
"Since the prayers of the Rosary come from such excellent sources โ from Our Lord Himself, from inspired Scripture, and from the Church โ it is not surprising that the Rosary is so dear to our Blessed Mother and so powerful with heaven.
โข NOVEMBERโDEDICATED TO THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED.
The month of November is dedicated to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. The Church commemorates all her faithful children who have departed from this life, but have not yet attained the joys of heaven. St. Paul warns us that we must not be ignorant concerning the dead, nor sorrowful, "even as others who have no hope ... For the Lord Himself shall come down from heaven ... and the dead who are in Christ shall rise.
โข DECEMBERโDEDICATED TO THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
The month of December is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. "From all eternity God chose with infinite wisdom the woman who would be the Mother of His divine Son. To prepare for the Word Incarnate a spotless and holy tabernacle, God created Mary in grace and endowed her from the moment of her conception with all the perfections suited to her exalted dignity. St. Thomas teaches that through her intimacy with Christ, the principle of grace, she possessed beyond all creatures a fullness of divine life." โ Liturgical Meditations, The Sisters of St. Dominic.

Happy Birthday to our loving Servant Leader, Bro. Mike Z. Velarde and Happy 37th Anniversary Yahweh EL SHADDAI

The POWER of Psalm 91 ๐

Reading and singing Psalm 91 has definitely helped us during challenging times. Psalm 91 reminds us that in whatever troubles we face, God is the place of refuge we can run to, He is our safe place.

During benediction, there's this vestment that priests wear when they are about to hold the monstrance. It is called the 'Humeral Veil.'
Humeral Veil is a long oblong piece of silk or vestment material often richly ornamented or embroidered, worn over the shoulders and covering the hands of the priest as he gives the blessing with the Sacred Host in the monstrance at benediction (Eucharistiae Sacramentum, 1973, III, 92).
Historically, the Humeral Veil, like the Vimpa, was originally used to keep oil (found on human hands) from the monstrance which was made out of easily corroding metals such as Gold or Silver.
Most lay people, and even most priests, believe the minister uses it because he is unworthy to touch the monstrance or get that close to the Blessed Sacrament. Considering that the priest or deacon places the host in the monstrance, and later reposes it in the tabernacle, thatโs not quite accurate. And neither is the notion that itโs just an additional sign of reverence.
Then why do priests use it?
It is to separate himself from the act of blessing.
The priest or deacon blesses the faithful with the Blessed Sacrament โ but by wrapping his hands in the humeral veil, he signifies his own removal from the action.
He doesnโt bless the people. Christ does.

This is My Body given up for you and for all. โ Luke 22:19
TODAY we celebrate the Corpus Christi this is also the highlight of the Life of our Lord Jesus, when he offered his self for the remission of our sins and for the forgiveness of all mankind. Remember, everytime you receive the Holy Communion, you receive Jesus, your savior, my savior and our salvation. Amen!
The Seven Effects of Holy Communion
Holy Communion has the following seven effects:
1. Increases our union with Christ - "He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood, abides in me and I in him" (Jn 6:56). "He who eats me, will live because of me" (Jn 6:57). "Life and resurrection are conferred on whoever receives Christ" (Syriac Office of Antioch). The flesh of the risen Christ increases our baptismal life of grace.
2. Separates us from sin - Since Christ's body was "given for us" and his blood was shed "for the forgiveness of sins," the Eucharist cleanses past sins and preserves from future sins. Because the blood is "poured out for the forgiveness of sins, I should always receive it, so it may always forgive my sins. Because I always sin, I should always have a remedy" (St. Ambrose).
3. Wipes away venial sins - The Eucharist gives us a living charity that wipes away venial sins. Also, Christ helps us to break our disordered attachments. "Having received this gift of love, let us die to sin and live for God" (St. Fulgentius of Ruspe).
4. Preserves us from future mortal sin - The Eucharist is not directly ordered to the forgiveness of mortal sins. This is proper to the sacrament of Reconciliation.
5. Brings about the Unity of the Mystical Body - By Communion, the person's baptismal incorporation into the Church is deepened. "Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread" (1 Cor 10:16-17). "You hear the words โthe Body of Christ' and respond โAmen.' Be then a member of the Body of Christ that your Amen may be true" (St. Ambrose).
6.Commits us to the poor - Receiving Communion demands that we recognize Christ in the poor. "You have tasted the Blood of the Lord, yet you do not recognize your brother" (St. John Chrysostom).
7. Brings about the unity of Christians - "O sign of unity! O bond of charity." The painful experience of Church division which breaks common Eucharistic participation makes our prayers for unity even more urgent.

BE IN THE KNOW | How many times may the Eucharist be received on a day?
Mga bok at ter, as we approach the Corpus Christi Sunday, let us answer one of the questions that Catholics often ask. How many times may the Eucharist be received on a day?
Canon Law says a person may receive Holy Communion a second time, provided he does so during a celebration of the Eucharist in which he participates (Canon 917). The authentic Latin text of the code uses the word ITERUM which is accurately translated as "AGAIN" as in "a second time." The current interpretation is that a person may receive Holy Communion twice if they have participated in two Masses on the same day. The stipulation that one receive the second Communion at a Mass โin which he participatesโ doesnโt apply in the case of those in danger of death (Canon 921).
The Church grants the permission of receiving Holy Communion twice in one day to meet those situations of a person attending perhaps a wedding Mass and a funeral Mass on the same day, or attending the regular daily Mass and then some special Mass the same day.
The confusion about this subject is due to post-conciliar changes in Church practice regarding the Eucharist. In the old 1917 Code of Cannon Law, reception of Holy Communion more than once a day was prohibited. After Vatican II this restriction was mitigated to permit reception twice on the same day. The 1983 revised Code of Canon Law incorporated the post-conciliar change in practice into the law of the Church.
