Chipped tooth or blackened cavities can easily be restored through cosmetic restorations, given that it is throughly assessed and diagnosed first that the chipping or the cavity has not reached the pulp yet ☺️
The pulp is composed of your tooth’s blood vessels and nerves and it is located in the center of each tooth. If the cavity or chipping has reached this part of your tooth, it is best to undergo root canal therapy first to throughly clean and disinfect the inside of your teeth to prevent further infection 😁

Surgery of impacted wisdom tooth involves MINIMAL bone reduction and sometimes multiple sectioning of the tooth.
In this case, the patient’s crown (part of the tooth that is usually outside of your gums) is sectioned multiple times to aid in ease of removal because it is locked tightly around the adjacent tooth.
Surgery like this sometimes feel like solving a jigsaw puzzle but in reverse 😁

Dental implants are titanium screws surgically placed into the bone. This titanium screw attracts bone formation around it so that this titanium screw will be properly integrated into the bone making it stable just like your natural tooth. This screw now acts as a root that can support a crown or a bridge for your missing tooth/teeth.
For dental implants to be successful, proper treatment planning is done. This is why dental implants need CBCT to properly check the measurement of the remaining bone and to check proper angulation of drilling into the bone.
Osseointegration (the actual fusion of titanium screw into the bone) usually takes up to 4-6months 😊

If a wisdom tooth is impacted, it would be best to also remove the opposing tooth because a tooth that has no opposing tooth, extrudes (goes down) and can cause interference in the patient’s bite. The interference can then cause improper bite and can eventually cause TMJ problems 😵💫

Patient had kissing caries in between his anterior teeth. The caries was so extensive on his left incisor that’s why it needed root canal treatment prior to restoration.
For this case, we advised patient to have crown for the root canal treated tooth because of how extensive the caries were but the patient asked us to do cosmetic restoration first because the crown was above his budget.
The patient was happy with the result 🥰

If you look closely, the adjacent tooth of the impacted one has deep caries on the area where the impacted tooth touches the adjacent tooth. This is because that area cannot be cleaned effectively thus becoming a trap for food debris which causes caries and infection ☹️
Caries like this sometimes cannot be seen by the naked eye that’s why it is important to have your oral health checked twice a year. This is also the reason why other diagnostic tools such as xrays and CBCT are requested by your attending dentist ☺️
