Hindi ako sanay na nililibre.

I was fine with taking the regular train to Osaka, but Marc insisted we get 1st class seats.

I was also ok with bringing all our stuff around from one station to another, but he booked a limo van with a driver.

…and he paid for it all!

All because ayaw niya akong mahassle. 😅

Hindi ako sanay — I usually take on the ate role or the taga bayad. And I grew up getting what I wanted through my own efforts. Plus I’m a big believer of the KKB system.

Syempre kasama na rin ng lahat ng to yung arte kong: “Do I deserve this?”

But it was also Marc who taught me how to be a GRACIOUS RECEIVER.

Nakakahiya man tumanggap, mas nahihiya na ako ngayong tumanggi.

If someone wants to give me something special, bakit ko siya tatanggalan ng opportunity to give?

Hindi naman kailangang bumawi. Hindi naman ito exchange gift. If he wants to give me these comforts, then I shall receive them graciously.

Choice ko na lang din talaga na ibalik yun lahat kahit di naman required — just because I want to treat him like a King as much as he treats me like a Queen.

So, two lessons here:

1. Accept graciously. For the right people, a sincere thank you is more than enough. Hindi ka gagamitan niyan ng “Utang na loob” card.

2. As Marc puts it: “You cannot demand to be treated like a Queen. If you want to be treated like a Queen, be a Queen.”
