The Ramon Torres National High School - Senior Plus Red Cross Youth Council has been in the service of humanity ever since its establishment way back in 2018. Living up to the 7 Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the council volunteers aim to assist students and uplift those who are in need. In the recently concluded school year, we have witnessed the soaring number of emergencies at our campus, and this led to the birth of an initiative for the common good.
The ๐ฅ๐ง๐ก๐๐ฆ - ๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ฅ๐๐ฌ ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐น ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น ๐ฌ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐๐๐-๐๐๐๐ proudly presents the "Project Amlig: Fostering First-Aid Ready School Culture" spearheaded by the Council President Ms. Johna Catliza Montes, Council Vice President - Internal Mr. Johann Diego Magdaleno P. Cepida and also with the support of the esteemed advisers, Sir Angelo Alvarez, Miss Lia Virgette Vista, Sir Dhevin Vergara and Miss Mai Relota. Following the resounding success of Hamtang Project 3.0: Dagta-an ang Paglaum and other initiatives, the council has produced funds to purchase a brand-new first aid kit (go-bag) and 2 sets of radio to effectively carry out assistance during health scenarios. The projects' principles:
1) To preserve life.
2) To maintain real-time updates and communicate effectively, will surely benefit all students and school staff in their day-to-day life.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who became a part of our detrimental success to deliver swift response in medical situations at our school. Indeed, your unwavering support and dedication have made it possible for us to enhance the safety and well-being of our school community. Together, we stand ready to face any challenges and ensure that everyone feels secure and cared for.
Join us in celebrating this milestone as we continue to serve with compassion and commitment.
Throwback Tuesday!โค๏ธโ๐ฅ
On a radiant day in May 25, 2024, the Hamtang Project 3.0 extended its reach to the community of Brgy Tapong Pulupandan, where laughter echoed against the backdrop of sunny skies. It was a day brimming with joy and excitement as children eagerly engaged in the productive and lively games, pouring their hearts into every moment of play.
As the sun made it's way to the azure sky, the vibrant energy of the event continued to escalate, enveloping the entire area with pure delight. As time slipped away unnoticed, the growling of empty stomachs served as a gentle reminder that it was time for lunch.
In a heartening display of community spirit, Spex Network and Data Solutions graciously stepped forward, providing nourishing hot meals not only for the eager children but also for their parents, who had gathered to partake in the festivities.
As the day drew to a close, amidst contented smiles and grateful expressions, the memory of this unforgettable gathering lingered. With full a full stomach and smiles all around, it was clear that the event had been a success. It showed how coming together as a community can make a real difference.
The Hamtang Project is not merely a one-time event; as demonstrated, we continue to look forward and seek out more communities to help and provide for. This embodies the spirit we aim for - to never grow tired of being a helping hand in the community.

Aiming to produce top-notch first aid responders, the training's activities were designed to hone the volunteer's knowledge on providing first aid and basic life support. In cooperation with the Philippine Red Cross Negros Occidental - Bacolod City Chapter Safety Services, our very own RCY Focal Person, Mr. Rizaldy S. Alunan Jr. discussed various emergency situations, instructing participants on how to evaluate, respond, and deliver immediate care to those in need. Mastering these crucial techniques enables individuals to become invaluable assets within their communities, making a significant impact during critical moments.
Throughout the event, the participants eagerly listened as they wholeheartedly learn about CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, bandaging techniques, and carry techniques. The RTNHS-SPRCY volunteers also showcased their knowledge on the simulation activity afterwards. With these being said, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW FIRST AIDERS OF RTNHS SPRCY COUNCIL! โค๏ธโ๐ฅ๐๐ป

MT. KANLAON UPDATE โผ๏ธ
Our Philippine Red Cross Negros Occidental-Bacolod City Chapter, led by our Chapter Administrator, along with our dedicated ambulance team and RCY Chapter-Based Volunteers, are preparing for deployment tonight to La Castellana and other areas affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.
We stand by our commitment: always first, always ready, always there. As we move to provide urgent aid and support to those impacted by this natural disaster, we ask for your thoughts and prayers for the safety and success of our team and for the well-being of the affected individuals.Your support and solidarity mean a lot during these challenging times.
Together, we can help our community recover and stay strong.
Stay safe, stay vigilant, and thank you for your continued support.
The Philippine Red Cross Negros Occidental-Bacolod City Chapter emphasizes the importance of staying alert and vigilant during a volcanic eruption. Before an eruption, it is crucial to stay informed by regularly checking updates from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) and local authorities.
Prepare an emergency kit that includes essentials like water, non-perishable food, masks, goggles, a flashlight, batteries, a first-aid kit, and important documents. Familiarize yourself with evacuation routes and safe locations, and plan with your family, practicing the evacuation route.
During the eruption, follow evacuation orders immediately if instructed by authorities and do not delay. If evacuation is not mandated, stay indoors to avoid inhaling ash and other hazardous materials. Protect yourself from ash by using N95 masks or a damp cloth to cover your nose and mouth, and wear long-sleeved shirts and pants to minimize skin exposure. Avoid driving, as ashfall can reduce visibility and make roads slippery, and stay away from river valleys and low-lying areas prone to volcanic mudflows.
After the eruption, wait for the all-clear from authorities before returning home. When cleaning up, use protective gear and wet the ash before sweeping to reduce airborne particles. Continue to monitor health and safety updates, particularly regarding air quality, and be mindful of respiratory issues, seeking medical attention if needed.
By staying alert and vigilant, you can ensure the safety and well-being of yourself and your community during volcanic events such as the Mt. Canlaon eruption.
