The era comes to an end as Philippine cable operators cease airing the National Geographic channel starting October 1.

Cignal conveyed that the Walt Disney Company opted to discontinue NatGeo broadcast in Southeast Asia, as indicated on the channel. Additionally, Sky Cable announced the discontinuation of not only National Geographic but also its related channels: Baby TV, National Geographic Wild, Star Chinese Movies, and Star Chinese Channel.

LOCAL governments have given the go signal for inter-regional routes of public utility buses and vans from Baguio City pending final health and safety protocols.

On Monday, December 14, Engineer Januario Borillo, chief of the traffic and transport management division of the City Engineering Office, said areas now ready to accept buses and vans coming from the city include Clark, San Fernando City and Mabalacat City in Pampanga; Mariveles, Bataan; San Carlos, Villasis and Lingayen in Pangasinan; Olongapo City, Zambales; Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; Bontoc, Mountain Province; and the National Capital Region (NCR).

It was in October when Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the city can accommodate more visitors by Christmas season. Magalong then said the resumption of buses will mean better tourism for the city, admitting that mass transportation is crucial.

Steps to consider in going to Baguio City:

1. Create a Baguio Visita account at http://visita.baguio.gov.ph/. Upload valid Id and current photo.
2. With the visita account, accommodation is optional, whether (1) staying in own, friends or relatives, (2) confirmed booking from accredited hotels, (3) same day trip, (4) long term vacation, (5) trip to tourist attractions. You’ll be required to fill up your travel details like address where you will be staying at, booking details from hotel or just a whole day trip.
3. Schedule a visit and wait for your QR-coded Tourist Pass (QTP) at the visita app. It serves as pass to be used for all establishments in Baguio. Print it.
4. Upon arrival in Baguio, proceed to triage. You will be guided by Baguio City personnel. If you already have the negative result, just present the hard copy to triage.
• CAP Convention Center John Hay Triage (open 8am to 5pm)
• Baguio Convention Center Triage (open 24 hours)
5. Follow Baguio health and safety protocols and standards while in the city.

Tourists from Luzon must take note of the following:
• Baguio City can accommodate up to 500 visitors per day.
• All ages are allowed to enter the city as long as there are no underlying health conditions, no Covid symptoms or exposure. Women must not be pregnant.
• Testing is NOT mandatory for children below 18 years old, unless symptomatic. The parent shall decide if child will undergo Covid-19 test.
• Travel requests can only be verified and approved up to 10pm of the day before arrival.
• You have the option to be tested prior to travel or upon arrival. Rapid Antigen Test is available at triage for Php 1,300.00.
• RT-PCR or Rapid Antigen tests are allowed as long as taken within 72 hours prior to arrival.
Documents must be presented upon arrival:
1. Valid Id with current photo.
2. Approved travel with issued QR-coded Travel Pass
3. Hotel’s Reservation voucher if there is a prior reservation.
4. Health Declaration Form as accomplished at the visita app.
5. Covid-19 test Negative Result
