Our Story

We started conceptualizing the Baguio E-Store in 2008 - long before there were online groceries here in the Philippines. We launched it then, but the goal was to simply sell groceries (hence we used to call it Baguio E-Grocery). We operated for a few months, and then closed because we felt a disconnect with the business and the advocacies we put forth in the world. While we were protesting the cutting of the trees in the city, there we were selling stuff from foreign companies, spewing as much plastic as any grocery store. We didn’t want that.

But we kept dreaming, and studying, and learning. And so we come to the Baguio E-Store. We are not the first Zero Waste Store in the city (there’s one called Being Eco PH, they’re located in Session Road), but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that we are trying to do our part in saving the environment. And helping our fellow Filipinos earn a decent living. And showing the public that healthy and organic doesn’t always mean expensive.

With the launch of this store is the beginning of an even bigger dream for the Philippines! Can’t say much about this yet, but keep posted. :)

Our hope is that in every Filipino table, there is good and healthy Filipino food, bought at a reasonable price. We hope that our heritage will continue to flourish because we, Filipinos, have learned to support our very own farmers and craftsmen. Our hope is that our economic system will change so that it can truly enable us to reach our fullest potential as human beings.

We know there are more steps to make. Truth is, we haven’t even reached 10% of our dreams! But step by step, we will get there. With a smile on our faces, and a whole community of new kind of consumers behind us.
