Tropical Storm Enteng maintains its strength while slowly turning north northwestward over the sea east of Polillo Islands.

At 7:00 a.m. Monday, it was located 115 km east northeast of Infanta, Quezon and is moving west northwestward at 15 kph.

The entire Cagayan and Camarines Norte and northern Apayao are now under Wind Signal No. 2, along with 7 more areas.

Metro Manila is also now under Wind Signal No. 1 as well as 27 more provinces.

NOTICE OF SITE CLOSURE: BALANGAGAN, SUMAGUING

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 5 of the Sagada Revised Tourism Code of 2022 on "Closure of Sites", let it be known, that:

1. BALANGAGAN CAVE shall be closed for the whole month of August; and,
2. SUMAGUING CAVE for the whole month of September 2024.

Said closure is to allow the rejuvenation of the caves and in consideration of the weather situations that regularly happen every year (during these months).

FORMER SAGADA MAYOR, WIFE AND TWO OTHERS DIE IN CANADA CAR CRASH

The former mayor of the famous town of Sagada in Mountain Province and his wife and two others died in a vehicular accident while on vacation in Calgary, Canada on July 26, sources said.
Former Sagada Mayor James “Payko” Pooten and wife,Cymbeline Joan, together with cousins, Arlene Guzman-Padalla, 62, and her son, Jacob, 32, were aboard a small sports utility vehicle when it collided head on with a semi-truck hauling a grain trailer.
All four passengers of the SUV were declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck suffered minor injuries and was treated by Emergency Medical Service crew at the scene.
The Pooten couple drove from Baguio City to Manila and flew to Canada on July 18.
Pooten was the chief executive of Sagada, a world-famous tourist destination north of Manila for its Sumaguing Caves, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
At the time, Sagada was among the local government units that were effective in their pandemic response.
Political leaders in the Cordillera region have expressed their sincerest condolences to the family of Pooten and Padalla. — Harley Palangchao
