It’s a wrap! It was indeed a fruitful academic year, Mga Katangkays. The STEM Society, in collaboration with other organizations of the Senior High School department, concludes the academic year with its final project, a community outreach program, "Regalo ng Pag-asa para sa Paghubog ng Kaisipan at Kasiyahan."

Together with the other organizations of the Senior High School department, ASSETS and Civitas, the STEM Society visited an orphanage here in Baguio City this 7th of August, 2023. Furthermore, students from the different strands congregated for the success of this event, visiting a total of sixteen (16) children. On top of that, the organizations were able to implement an interactive activity for the children and donate additional necessary supplies.

May this droplet of benevolence and community awareness catalyze a spirit of altruism in each of us.

The STEM Strand organized by the STEM Society held it’s Seniors’ Night at the Crown Legacy Hotel, this July 14, 2023. ❤️

The STEM Night was themed “A Crimson Soirée Gleaming Under the Celestial Sapphire”. The afternoon-‘til-night event was shrouded with various activities, commencing from illustrating the fond of STEM students not merely in academics, but also being multifaceted in different aspects of talents; down to their individual engagements with fellow students as the dancefloor was opened for interactions. 💯

The night was subjected and specked with splendor and elegance as the students sauntered the red carpet showcasing their marvelous attires, and demure. Furthermore, there were sets of award presented to chosen students:

Last June 23, 2023, the UC IS SHS conducted a research colloquium for the whole senior high school including ABM and HUMSS strand with the theme “FIRE: Fortifying and Innovatingthe Research Excellence of the Senior High Jaguars”. The program started from 9:30am to 5:30pm.

The colloquium was divided into two categories; Research poster and Researcher paper. The poster presentation was concluded in the morning, while the paper presentation was held in the afternoon. There were 5 groups under the research poster; both ABM&HUMSS and STEM. For the paper presentation there were 5 groups in ABM&HUMSS while 6 group in STEM.

The research entitled “Torogi Taraki: Igorot Families’ Responses to Having Gay Children” bagged First place for the ABM&HUMSS research paper while the “A Comparative Analysis on the Feasibility of Utilizing Pyrolysis and Anaerobic Digestion Technologies in Baguio City, Philippines” got First place on the STEM research paper.

Meanwhile in the poster category, the research entitled “Influence of Fashion Blogs on Consumer Behavior of Senior High School Students” placed at First for the ABM&HUMSS research poster and the research “Eco-friendly Car Exhaust Pipe from Eggshells (Calcium Carbonate) and Burnt Coconut (Cocos nusifera) Husks to Lessen Smoke Opacity” for the STEM research poster bagged First place.

The best presenters for both categories were also recognized; the “Influence of Fashion Blogs on Consumer Behavior of Senior High School Students” for the ABM&HUMSS research poster, the “Effectiveness of Acacia Tree (Acacia concinna) seed Ethanolic Extract in Reducing Developmental Effects of Ni****ne on Common Fruit Fly (Drosophila melanogaster)” for the STEM research poster, the “Torogi Taraki: Igorot Families' Responses to Having Gay Children” for the ABM&HUMSS research paper, and the “Biodiversity Assessment of the Flora in Quezon Hill Eco-zone:
An Inventory of a City-forest Ecotone.”

The STEM Society’s event “A Crimson Soiree Gleaming Under the Celestial Sapphire”, also known as the STEM Gala, is finally here. For all Grade 12 STEM students out there, you are all invited to join the gathering as we conclude the journey of the Senior High life in unity towards the better future. Here are the details for the upcoming occasion, a guideline for the requirements to be fulfilled before the event proper. Please take your time reading this guideline because if the requirements are not met, one cannot be allowed to participate.

Once the requirements are accomplished, kindly scan the QR code on the bottom right side of the infographic and this will be used as your pass for the event. The registration will only be open on or before July 11, 2023, so make sure you won’t miss the date, for we are excited to celebrate the success we’ve finally reached! See you there!
