CARAA 2024 Champion's Triumph: PCNHS pesilat fighter bags gold
Pines City National High School pesilat fighter Clariz Riturban pocketed the gold medal, ultimately claiming victory after defeating Benguet (48-50) through her striking punch and kick combinations in the pencak silat CARAA 2024 championships held at Pudtol, Apayao, on April 15-20.
Throughout the tournament, Riturban displayed a dazzling technique of fast lead roundhouse kicks with follow-up jabs and straight punches to the body. She also had a nice defense technique and was able to counter the grabbing techniques against her opponents from Apayao, Mt. Province, and Benguet.
โBe consistent in your training. Wag liliban and ipagtuloy lang ang gustong gawin," Riturban said.
According to Arnold Cayso, one of the coaches, Riturban underwent everyday training in the school and athletic bowl from 3-5 pm, including Saturday for the team training with her co-pesilat athletes at Woods Gate,Camp 7, Baguio City.
โRiturban's performance has a wide understanding of the sport, took all coaches' instructions to heart, had a strong goal motivation, and never stopped training.โ Cayso added.

CARAA 2024: PCNHS muay thai artist grabs silver
Martial artist Graceal Napeek snatched a silver medal in the Muay Thai competition, bringing another achievement to Pines City National High School and Baguio City during the CARAA 2024 held at Pudtol, Apayao, on April 16, 2024.
Despite having influenza a week before the CARAA competition, Napeek still strived to learn the WAI KRU routine in Apayao, which also helped her secure the silver medal.
"Although I didnโt win the gold medal, I still consider this a big achievement. With little time to train, I managed to achieve silver. The exposure itself was a big win," Napeek stated.
"I was so pressured when the competition started. All I was thinking was to do the routine right; I didnโt think about winning because, at that time, I didnโt want to embarrass myself. But during the performance, I felt confident and started enjoying what I was doing," she added.
Napeek expressed gratitude to her family and support system. "First is God because He is the reason I had an opportunity to even join CARAA. Then to my mom because she supported me along the way. Then to my teachers, coaches, and teammates because they helped me to be where I am."
