𝗟𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟵-𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬

In light of the declaration of enhanced community quarantine over the entire Luzon and the imposition of similar measure in other regions of the country due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the UP System has lifted the deadline for dropping and the filing of leave of absence for its students for the second semester, AY 2019-2020.

New deadlines will be announced in subsequent memos.

UP Baguio amidst Community Quarantine
(16 March 2020)

Dear UP Baguio Students, Faculty, Staff, and Research and Extension Personnel:

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed today, 16 March 2020, Executive Order No. 65, s. 2020. The executive order contains, among others, placing the city under “community quarantine,” prohibiting senior citizens and pregnant women from reporting for work, and extending class suspension in Baguio to April 15, 2020.

The UP Baguio administration has anticipated this eventuality. We have been prepared with the following measures and plan of action to ensure the continuity of learning (academic) as well as the essential administrative and operational processes within UP Baguio:

1. Learning shall continue via digital mode. Our faculty are now in the process of quickly shifting to online teaching and learning technologies in order to deliver lessons, give assignments, and monitor and evaluate student performance. Students who do not have access to the internet should communicate with their teachers through SMS (texting) or other means of communication.

2. Front line offices such as the Health Service Office, the Security Office, and the Systems and Network Office continue to operate. All other offices have formulated alternative work arrangements consistent with the Civil Service Commission Announcement No. 12, s. 2020, to ensure the delivery of public service with due observance of social distancing policy and other preventive health measures.

3. Faculty administrators at the university and college levels ensure continued strategic leadership and management of the University.

4. We assure the faculty, staff, and REPS, including those on Job Order status, that all salaries and mandatory benefits will continue to be given during this quarantine period.

We enjoin the continued full cooperation of all sectors of the UP Baguio community. Please do the following:

a. Stay home. Do not go to crowded places. Go out only if and when extremely necessary.
b. Remain busy and productive even while at home.
c. Practice precautionary measures such as sanitation, hygiene and social distancing.
d. Be mindful of announcements and advisories from the DOH, the LGU, and UP Baguio.
e. Please comply with quarantine protocols as specified in EO 65 s. 2020.
f. Regarding possible adjustment in the academic calendar, please wait for the memo.

Team Dangal at Husay is composed of (L-R) June Catalan, Arvin Camacho, and Feliz Miguel. The three-man team was part of the twelve finalists who went to Bogor, Indonesia last November 6-7, 2019.

Snatching the 4th place in the 10th PPM Business Case Competition, they definitely won the hearts of the Indonesian people with their case presentation for Bank Central Asia.
