Maraming Salamat po sa CDRRMC ng Lungsod ng Balanga na pinamumunuan ng ama ng aming Lungsod Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia, sa agarang pagtugon sa pagsasaayos ng mga punong bumagsak at nasirang mga sanga na maaaring magdulot ng panganib sa loob ng mga paaralan sa Dibisyon ng Lungsod ng Balanga. Lalong lalo na po sa CGSO, CENRO, CDRRMO at PENELCO.

In light of the potential impacts of Southwest Moonson and Super Typhoon Carina, which may also adversely affect the mental health of learners, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DRRMS) requires all schools in the affected regions to conduct Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) activities or Psychological First Aid (PFA) for all learners during the first hour of the first week of the opening of classes for the school year 2024-2025.

DepEd SDO Balanga City along with the schools in the Division participated in the conduct of the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today, September 7, 2023 at exactly 2:00 pm pursuant to National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) Memorandum No.090, 8.23 dated August 18,2023 and OUOPS No. 2023-04-1668.
This activity helps in instilling preparedness during times of uncertainties such earthquakes and spreading awareness regarding the significance of being equipped at all times.
Maintenance of Workforce during onslaught of Habagat enhanced by TY Hanna for safety and security of SDO Balanga City.

Guidelines on the Cancellation or Suspension of Classes and Work in Schools in the event of Natural Disasters, Power Outages/ Power Interruptions, and Other Calamities as per DepEd Order 37, s. 2022.

❗️ Local Chief Executives shall decide on the cancellation or suspension of classes in cases where there are strong winds in specific or all areas of the
LGU but is not issued a TCWS or if their LGU is issued a Yellow Rainfall Warning by PAGASA or in cases where there are torrential rains in specific or all areas of the LGU but is not issued an Alert by PAGASA.
❗️ The Deped still maintains that parents or guardians have the ultimate responsibility for determining whether their children should attend classes in consideration of their physical and/or mental health during disaster and calamities. This applies even if no order for cancellation or suspension of classes has been issued.
Nonetheless, it shall also be the responsibility of the parents or guardians to ensure that their child is able to catch up with the needed competencies that the learners should master.
❗️School Principals can cancel classes at any Intensity Scale if in their assessment, building and other structures are seen to be in danger of
collapsing or is found to have major damage.
❗️ If power outages power interruptions/ brownouts have resulted to poor learning environment, school officials can cancel or suspend classes at their own discretion.
❗️ If the Warning is issued at a time when classes have already begun, the school shall immediately suspend the classes and work and send everyone home, if it is safe to do so. However, schools are obligated to keep the students and personnel safely in school if travelling has become unsafe.

DepEd SDO Balanga City DRRM conducted school monitoring during the maintenance of work despite of Class Suspension due to Southwest Monsoon enhanced by TY SOALA (FORMERLY “GORING”) and TY “HANNA”
SDO Balanga City is very grateful to our partners, Save the Children, City Government of Balanga and CDRRMO for supporting the advocacy to implement the Education Safe from Disasters Project: Developing an Ecosystem for Comprehensive School Safety in the Philippines, with the support of Prudence Foundation.
Secondary and Integrated Schools in SDO Balanga City attended the conduct of Division Disaster Preparedness Training Program for DepEd Personnel titled “Provincial Wide School Based Disaster Risk Reduction Education Seminar and Emergency Medical First Responder (EMFR) Training for Secondary Teachers (Teaching and Non - Teaching)” on August 2-4, 2023.
This is in compliance to the requirements of Republic Act 10121, otherwise known as "Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010" Sec. 14, Integration of Disaster Risk Reduction into the School Curricula in coordination with the Province of Bataan through the Provincial Disaster Risk and Management Office (PDRRMO) and DepEd Bataan
This activity aimed to attain the following objectives:
a. Train the participants for disaster preparedness volunteers ready to serve as School-Based Disaster Response Team on Emergency Medical First Aider; Searcher/Rescuer; and Fire Emergency Responder;
b. Organize School Disaster Brigade for effective DRRM activities;
c. Conduct School-Based Disaster Preparedness Training;
d. Respond to various Medical and Disaster Emergency Situations; and
e. Comply with the requirement of RA 10121.

DepEd SDO Balanga City joins the nation in Observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month with this year’s theme: “BIDANG Pilipino: Building a Stronger Filipino Well-being towards Disaster Resilience”, which focuses on ensuring that well-being of every Filipino is well taken care of so that they can efficiently contribute in our effort to build a disaster resilient nation.
Schools were enjoined to actively support and conduct resilience-building activities intensifying the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC)
Campaign to promote the observance of the NDRM and participate in resilience-building activities in coordination and partnership with Balanga City Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office through “2023 SCHOOL DRRM RELATED ACTIVITIES” with the theme "Maging isang Balangueñong ligtas at may alam, El Niño ay paghandaan," as per Division Memorandum 213 s. 2023.
