To advance innovation and foster a dynamic digital landscape, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) conducted an Enhanced Institutional Development Workshop as part of its Digital Cities Program on May 30, 2024 in the Municipality of Baler, Aurora.

DICT Regional Director Engr. Antonio Edward E. Padre stressed the importance of digital transformation in Baler, emphasizing the need for a collaborative roadmap to ensure inclusivity and sustainability in the ICT ecosystem.

The workshop assessed Balerโ€™s current ICT landscape and outlined strategies for its improvement and future growth. Discussions centered on identifying their strengths, pinpointing areas for improvement, and creating a clear path forward to fortify the municipality's digital infrastructure and capabilities.

Municipal Mayor Rhett Ronan T. Angara, represented by Executive Assistant II Ryan John Soriao, articulated their vision for positioning Baler as a promising hub for IT-BPM investments, urging stakeholders to collaborate for accelerated growth in the global IT-BPM landscape.

The Digital Cities Program, a strategic initiative by the DICT, aims to accelerate digital progress in high-potential locations outside Metro Manila, such as Baler, by providing support, resources, and expertise to catalyze their digital transformation journey.

ASCOT | News: PAPSAS Region III holds 2023 benchmarking activity in ASCOT

Aiming to be informed, adopt, and build further collaborations, the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services, Inc. (PAPSAS) Region III is currently holding a 2-day Benchmarking Activity at the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), January 30-31.

The nine-team delegation includes PAPSAS President Mrs. Iris Ann G. Castro from Holy Angel University, Mr. Christopher Sicat and Dr. Gloria B. Gigante from Don Honorio Ventura University, Mr. Darwin Andres from Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, Ms. Kathleen Angeles from Bataan Heroes College, Ms. Marissa Mendoza from Bulacan Polytechnic College, Dr. Lorina P. Bundang from President Ramon Magsaysay State University, and Ms. Lory Gomez from Bataan Peninsula State University.

In the benchmarking proper, the College's Students Affairs and Services (SAS) Director, Mr. Von Gerald D. Macose, presented the best practices of his office, which focuses mainly on assisting the students in terms of publication, admission, scholarship, health, and guidance, followed by an open forum and planning for the Annual PAPSAS Convention 2023.

Present also in the said activity and who warmly welcomed the PAPSAS delegates were the Socio-cultural Affairs Director and the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Dr. Jay Amon; one of the College's Guidance Counselors, Dr. Alma Bayudan; the College Nurse, Mrs. Genalyn Gudoy; the head of the ASCOT Scholarship Unit, Mrs. Merly Agbayani; and the Adviser of The Voice of the Sierra, Mr. Eliseo Joseph Nakar.

ASCOT | News: ASCOT receives recognition in Deped Region III's 2022 Gawad Katig Award

In recognition of the College's commitment to become one of the education partners of Department of Education (DepEd) Region III in pursuing and providing excellent, quality, and accessible education, the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) received a recognition in the 2022 Gawad Katig Award from Deped Region III.

The Director of the ASCOT-Extension and Rural Development Office, Dr. Ricardo Gonzales, Jr., received the said recognition on behalf of the College in an awarding ceremony held at the Hacienda Hotel and Resort, Lubao, Pampanga, yesterday; January 31.

Meanwhile, the office also gave a special award to our College President Dr. Eutiquio L. Rotaquio, Jr., in recognition of his selfless assistance, support, and commitment as one of the partners in achieving its educational goals, particularly in the province of Aurora.

Deped Region III's GWAD KATIG (Katuwang sa Isang hanGaring de kalidad na edukasyon) also aims to recognize various stakeholders' support to the department's Basic Education Learning Recovery Plan.

ASCOT News | An Act Converting ASCOT into a state university (ASUST), passes the first reading; now on Committee Consideration/ Action.

The House Bill No. 5892: "AN ACT CONVERTING THE AURORA STATE COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE PROVINCE OF AURORA, AND ALL ITS SATELLITE CAMPUSES LOCATED IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIA AURORA, CASIGURAN, AND SAN LUIS, ALL IN THE PROVINCE OF AURORA, INTO A STATE UNIVERSITY TO BE KNOWN AS THE AURORA STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (ASUST), AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR" passes the first reading today at the House of Representatives, January 30, 2023.

A portion of the brief from the said initial deliberation with the Committee on Higher and Technical Education (CHTE), the following are the operational requirements for a university:

(a) Level III accreditation or equivalent under CHED policies for at least four (4) of its undergraduate programs, one (1) in liberal arts and one (1) in the sciences, and two (2) of its graduate programs;

(b) Ratio of qualified full-time faculty with requisite degrees to number of students;

(c) Adequate library and laboratories;

(d) Research and development output of practical and commercial application to the community;

(e) Relevant linkages and outreach programs that are of service to the community; and

(f) Relevant academic policies, systems, and processes

"The institution shall retain its status prior to the effectivity of this Act, unless in the meantime it is able to comply with the requirements provided herein within five years from the approval of this Act."

Present during the said event from Aurora State College of Technology are: College President Eutiquio L. Rotaquio, Jr.,PhD, Vice President for Academic Affairs, RB J. Gallego, PhD, Attorney Raquel Dujunco, CPA, Director Annie Capin, Director Maria Cristina Canada, Director Rick Gonzales, and Executive Assistant Mharjorie Vigilia.

The said bill was sponsored by Congressman Rommel Rico T. Angara.
