𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐁𝐢𝐝𝐨: 𝐀 𝐌𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞

Today is the 37th Death Anniversary of our dear Bishop Bienvenido Solon Tudtud, D.D. more lovingly known as our "Tatay Bido".

He is a man that emanates sanctity by his simplicity, humility, welcoming aura and listening heart. Today, more than ever, we need him as a model in paving the way of peace, harmony and mutual respect by trying to understand others deeply and learning from them through dialogue of faith and culture.

As a person and as the Bishop of Marawi (1977-1987) he was respected and well-loved by both Muslims and Christians.

He died in a plane crash on the way to Baguio, on June 26, 1987 at a relatively young age of 56, but his legacy of Dialogue of Life and Faith with Muslims and Peoples of other Faiths as the most viable method of peace building remains as strong as ever!

Ramon as they continue to faithfully serve the people of God. Congratulations on this significant milestone, and may you be filled with God's grace and love on this joyous occasion.

Reposting the prayer I composed for the Silver Jubilee celebration of the founding of the Prelature of Marawi in 2001. May I request all our constituents to revisit this prayer in this very difficult moment in our journey towards our Golden Jubilee in 2026!

In today's observance of RED WEDNESDAY (or a day of prayer for all the persecuted Christians), we remember our beloved FR. CHITO SUGANOB. He was based in Marawi. During the Marawi Siege on May 2017, he was taken hostage by a group of militants. He died due to cardiac arrest on July 22, 2020.

During our Bishops and Clergy Convention in Iligan on 2019, he told the bishops and priests of DOPIM (Dipolog, Ozamis, Pagadian, Iligan, and Marawi):

"Inter-religious dialogue has been very challenging, and indeed, I was abducted for more than 100 days. The experience was traumatic. When I was sent to Luzon for healing, many dioceses told me not to go back to Marawi and rather serve in their dioceses. I answered them that, yes, interreligious dialogue is difficult, but I will not leave Marawi. God called me for this mission. Why will I leave? Is that because of fear that I will be abducted again or finally be killed? No. I will go back to Marawi and I will stand for interreligious dialogue." (paraphrased)

Rest in God's peace, Fr. Chitix. You are dearly missed. Pray for all the persecuted Christians. Like you, may they not give up on their Faith too. 🙏🏽💪🏾
