The month of February is National Oral Health Month!

The Department of Dental Medicine of the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, in cooperation with the City Government of Batac, the City Social Welfare and Development Office, with the support and assistance of the Philippine Dental Association-Ilocos Norte Chapter, started this month-long celebration with an Oral Examination and Topical Fluoride Application of 245 Daycare Pupils from 14 of the 49 Child Development Centers of the City of Batac.

This event is the first of 5 days of the Healthy Smile Program of the Dental MMMH&MC - which will continue until February 8, 2024 to cater to the remaining 29 barangays of Batac - to promote oral health and overall health.

Let’s DOH-8 para healthy ang bibig hanggang sa pagtanda!

The frequent and inappropriate intake of sugar-sweetened beverages and food with added sugar adversely affect a person’s oral health too.

Ang pagkonsumo ng mga inumin at pagkain na may added sugar ay may negatibong epekto sa kalusugan ng ating bibig at ang pangkalahatang kalusugan. Iwasan ang mga ito.

Avoid foods that contain high amounts of sugar.

Consuming too much sugar can increase risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and gout.
