Ang kasuotan ay sumasalamin sa kasaganahan ng pangunahing hanapbuhay ng mga tao sa Sto. Domingo, Bauan, Batangas - ang pangingisda. Bilang pasasalamat at pagbibigay pugay sa mahal na patron, ipinagdiriwang ang Barutak Festival na partikular sa lugar na ito ng bayan ng Bauan. Ang Barutak ay isang uri ng maliit na isdang tamban na kilala at nahuhuli sa nasabing baybaying dagat ng Bauan.

Noon pa man, ang mga perlas ay nauugnay sa kayamanan, pagkababae, kadalisayan, karunungan, at kapayapaan. Dahil sa kanilang hitsura, madalas silang ikinukumpara sa buwan, at sinasabing nagpapakalma, nagbibigay proteksyon at lakas sa nagsusuot nito.

Bilang simbolo ng paglalakbay sa buhay ang bangka ang nagsisilbing tagapaghatid sa kasaganahan. Maghabi naman ng pag-asa at kaligayahan sa pamamagitan ng masisipag na mga kamay ang nais ipahiwatig ng lambat.

Huli, ang liwanag, karunungan, talino, at mabubuting gawa ay pawang mga pagpapakita ng simbolikong katangian ng lampara at nagsisilbi ring gabay sa bawat paglalakbay ng mga mangingisda.
