Army troops, in coordination with the police, arrested two individuals and seized approximately ₱4 million worth of smuggled ci******es in Lanao del Norte. The 4th Civil Relations Group (4CRG) reported that the ci******es were confiscated by the 51st Mechanized Infantry Company and police officers on October 25 in Rebucon village, Nunungan. The two arrested individuals, both drivers of the intercepted vehicles, were not identified.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 10 held a forum on October 4 in Iligan City with shrimp operators from Northern Mindanao to discuss the current state of the shrimp industry, particularly in Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental. Despite producing over 42,000 metric tons of tiger prawns during the COVID-19 pandemic, shrimp production in the region has dropped to just over 27,000 metric tons in 2023, a 35.25% decline according to the Philippine Statistics Authority. The Lanao del Norte Aquaculture Producers Association expressed gratitude to BFAR-10 and hopes that the issues affecting their livelihood will be addressed to revitalize the industry.

Recent test-buy operations by the Philippine Iron and Steel Institute (PISI) revealed that substandard reinforcement bars (rebars) continue to flood Mindanao. Random purchases made from hardware stores in various provinces and cities showed that the rebars failed to meet weight standards and were prone to brittleness. PISI identified three steel manufacturers and six hardware stores involved in selling these substandard products. The issue arose just weeks after similar findings in Northern Luzon.
